Ok, I got another problem I can't seem to work out, maybe you guys can help me:)

Every now and then my pc just randomly freezes, its not when I'm doing anything specific or anything, just freezes & I push restart and its fine

Like ie. I played games for the whole day and the next and it didnt freeze or anything but then now I was just browsing the internet and it froze, I have scanned for viruses & spyware & none, I tried reinstalling AGP drivers along with trying to downgrade them to an earlier version & it's happened when i'm not connected to the internet before so I don't think its that, I've done a check disk on my HDD and a defrag and still no luck..

Any ideas?

Thanx in advance

Most of the time it's driver related, but it could be hardware as well, doesn't everyone always say that? ARgggghhhh! lol!

Check for new mobo and chipset drivers, if you can have your psu tested, check the temps, defrag the hdd with something like O&O and hope for the best ;)

It's never been overclocked, just reinstalled windows now because 30day trial expired (don't like talking to those damn operators :) ) will have to wait and see now

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less that a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

Another possibility is RAM, do you know if yours is error correcting?
Google a utility to check... other items already covered...

Can you give a list of the hardware and rough ages?

In terms of software, it may be the motherboard drivers. If you've upgraded these in the past while, that could be the cause. Then, it could be a virus. Do you have an antivirus app that updates often?

On the hardware front:

1) Heat. Do you have good airflow through the case? Cables neatly tucked away? Have you checked the heatsink on your CPU for grime and dust? Have you cleaned and reseated the CPU with fresh thermal compound? If you're not sure, rather get an experienced person to help with that. Let your PC run for a few hours playing games and stuff, then check the CPU and motherboard temperatures.

2) PSU. If the PSU is failing, it may have dips that could affect things like this.

3) Double-check that the graphics and RAM are still inserted okay.

Hmmm i had the exact same problem once on my old duron 900...
Turned out to be a chipset overheating problem, I just placed a fan on the little via chipset and the freezing stopped. And it was random like ur case~

But then I flashed my bios(was a tomatoe mb) and the overheating kinda subsided~
So was my bios that started it~
Hope this helps in some way
