Not really, since viri isn't a real word either. The word virus comes from latin, so somewhere along the way somebody decided that viri probably means "viruses" when in fact it means "men". Go figure. It's the same with syllabus and hippopotamus. Most people believe the plural is syllabi and Hippopotami when in fact it's syllabusses and hippopotamusses
The plural for virus is not viri or virii, it's viruses
