Hi there everyone.

Can someone please advise me how to report an unlicensed driver?

I usually keep out of other people's business - however, there has already been one accident...

Thanks

Still financed....

Easy. Take photo or video if possible and send to financing place, they will quickly sort that out, because it needs insurance, and no place will insure it to be driven by an unlicensed driver...

*if you dont want to be bothered by them you will need to do it discretely and e-mail it from a random e-mail address made up on gmail.

This was my initial thought - but he wont be off the road then. As the car is still in driving condition.

Yes, but the car "might" get repossessed and they will still own the money on the car. Or else the person will need to get a license to keep driving it.

you should see the letters sent by finance houses to make sure you are covered by insurance, they don't take it lightly. And since an unlicensed driver cant be insured, they will take it very seriously.

And if the car is in his mother's name?

op,

as his mother she could lose her DL(for a time period at least) and lose insurance on her car.

report to finance house, they will take care of it as they have a financial investment in said vehicle...

Thank you everyone. I hope ill be able to accomplish something.

There are so many unlicensed drivers on the road, you might be able to do something but I doubt it will be effective.

Yes, I was rear-ended by a youngster driving a large lorry filled with scrap metal. He ran off after the accident, but then popped back to see what was going on. A gearbox on the lorry fell onto a car adjacent to the lorry and the driver spotted him in the crowd.

He was unlicenced, so the ins co never got any recovery from the owner, who just denied he knew anything about it. There was no court case so I presume it just faded away. Over R200k damage to 2 cars
