Unlicensed driver

I reckon a sizeable portion of drivers are unlicensed. judging by the way they drive and by the stats given from roadblocks that I have come across. the ads for cars even gleefully declare that you don't need a license to purchase a vehicle.

Can I ask.. what triggered you into doing this - besides the accident he had?

Sure, the night of the accident - I was on duty at our local hospital and had to help the other guy. The other driver's injuries were quite severe. It has been haunting me ever since that i havent done anything about it.

Kudos to you. :)

Let us know how it goes... might get more people to do reporting if there is a sense of justice will / might happen.

Just a question on the side, does having a license make you a better driver?

No, but it is the only way to determine that you know the basics (if it is a legally acquired) required for driving and should know the rules, road signs. road markings and other behaviour. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

No.

But if you can have a total disregard for the law with regards to driving without a license, nothing is probably going to stop you from having a total disregard for the rules of the road and your fellow drivers.

Cool, just checking. Don't want people to be under the illusion that a license makes you an accident free driver. More than half the people with valid drivers licenses don't buckle up.

Driving is a privilege, not a right.
Damn straight, and riding is a skill.

Update:

finance House
These okes barely listened to me. They said its not their responsibility to ensure that the owner of the vehicle adheres to the T'c & C's of their insurance or the law for that matter. I asked then whether they then condone that a car they financed is out there being driven illegally and they could not answer me. They said that they will only investigate the allegations if said insurance company doesn't honor the claim. I just dropped the call.

insurance
Tip emailed, they asked for more information and i obliged, however 3 days later the money was paid out.

I tried.

The sad thing is that the reaction of the various "authoroties" is indicative of the way things have slid into a complete lack of interest with repect to what is legal and what is not.

It's a case of take the car, and I really don't care who drives it and who doesn't, as long as you pay every month, until its settled, then it is no longer my problem. There are probably many thousands of unlicenced drivers on our roads at the moment, so if you try and do the right thing and report one of them, the powers that be couldn't give a continental damn!

The only time anyone jumps up and down is when your unlicenced driver drives a truck and kills 23 people, then suddenly it's a big deal, and everyone screams for the death sentence.

Until something is done from the top downwards, this situation will continue, and many, many more innocent lives will be lost!

Ag that's easy. Report it to the local metro along with said persons plate number and a metro cop should pull that person over next time they are seen. That's if the police care as much as you.
