Unlikely entrant shakes up ADSL ISP Pricing

Nice to see a bit a relief :D

I will take a 5 GIG account at least.

Looks like theyre taking some risks and cutting margins almost to non-existence to attract customers. Believe me theyre banking on people not using their alloted monthly GB's and it wont roll-over thats for sure.

Yeah this could be like AYCE where they only have these large-cap accounts for a certain amount of time. Nevertheless, their prices are competitive.

theyre website sucks...i mean wtf, surely you update your website before you announce these specials? Such poor marketing.. how many ppl would have gone and visited their website, especiaaly the ppl on this forum....

The term "newbie" doesn't even begin to describe me - but could it be possible they're using gigs from their bpl service and porting that onto this new adsl service? Also, is bpl under telecom laws or is it the saviour for sa broadband?

GTS, let me know as soon as you get BPL available, and in Rustenburg too, then I would be your first customer guaranteed! :D
As long as you keep up the good pricing and it is reflected in your BPL offering too, then I would imagine you could potentially be the company to drive up the broadband penetration rate in this country.
I don't care how you did it, but it must be working for you to make an announcement like this, so I am holding thumbs ;)

24 month contract on 20 gb account... haha, can anyone say "all you can eat" ?

<deleted by="ic" reason="just plain rude"/> <-- I am just plain rude you idiot... thats my personlity, deal with it. We don't have to pusy foot around companies like this because we've BEEN THERE DONE THAT. you got my opinion, so there... this is what forums are about, opinions. Be they rude or not.

Please also come up with a local only access account

I have been in contact with GTS before this announcement to find out more about the BPL service in Pretoria, and I have to say I am very pleased with the way they treat potential customers.

This seems to be a company with no BS. WYSIWYG! They seem to be well organized, with deadlines being met, and willing to challenge telkom on the broadband arena. Let's all hope for the best, and help them to be successful where we can.

Let's stop giving them flack for their webpage not being ready yet, as it almost seems as if they are more focused on the actual product offering and less focused on marketing.
They'll catch up on Marketing, but in my opinion, in SA we have too much talk and too little action from companies. I think with GTS its the other way round.

Oh, and BTW. I am in no way affiliated with them.

Do they actually have a bpl service in pretoria? have u used it and how much do they charge?
I agree with what u say about all talk, but still, they should definately have had theyre website ready..it didnt need to be fancy, just a simple page with the prices.. Wouldnt have taken someone more than 5 minutes..

They are busy with initial pilots with BPL, they'll prob. launch it later this year.
..and no, i haven't used it, and don't know how much they charge.

I am first in line to sign up when they offer it to the public though.

Yeah, guess so.

Ye ill second that..
But they still wont have any access to international bandwidth and theyll need to go through telkom.. am i right in saying that?So as far as price goes...

And has bpl been used anywhere overseas? and if so was it successful..

Fair enough, but if you release information to the public it is standard practice to at least have that same information available on your own company website as well. Just a products page with all the different packages/prices, with a future launch date, if applicable.

I naturally visited their website after I read the press release on MyADSL and when I couldn't find a products page, I immediately frowned because I then wondered if it's not just another backyard operation. It obviously isn't, but the perception is automatically created when a visitor to the site can't find standard product information.

Goal Technology Response

Good day all.

GTS had every intention to officially launch the service in mid July as our ISP service is only going live in August. It however happened that the story was posted on myADSL somewhat prematurely before our intended launch.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused regarding the lack of information. Our website will however be updated with the relevant packages and forms as a priority.

Your support and understanding is greatly appreciated.

The GTS Team
