Hi
My brother was recently given a work phone (CAT B15q) Purchased from Vodacom by the company he works for. unfortunately the second sim slot is locked and doesn't register a sim when there's one inserted. I'm guessing it's some software Vodacom installed.
So how would my brother go about unlocking the sim slot? (he did ask for permission to do so from the people who gave him the phone and they said it's okay as long as he doesn't damage it and continues using the company sim card)

By most probably flashing an unlocked firmware. Check Xda Developers. Also, please exercise caution. You can easily brick the phone rendering it useless if you dont know what youre doing.

If you follow instructions properly, you shouldn't have an issue. If might void any warranty thou.

I had a look on needrom and didn't find a rom for the CAT. This would have been the easiest option. That phone is pretty old too (3 years since release), so wouldn't expect to see much support for it anymore.

Resurrecting this thread instead:

How do you unlock second SIM slot in a Vodacom supplied phone Samsung A30s...here is something interesting from XDA forums.
Has anyone tried this with Vodacom, apparently there is a way to unlock legally..without having to flash--there is a code only Voda* knows.

Flash the software for dual sim then you need a IMEI number to register the second sim on the network.
This is done at your own peril.

Many phones you can change the IMEI number using Engineering Mode. Some phones have no IMEI numbers after flashing (MTK one it is common) and you need to get them in Engineering Mode.
*#06# is the universal code for checking IMEI numbers. It may display the second IMEI.

So flash it and then run the code to check if it was unlocked??
