Anybody perhaps just want to help me setup this. I'm using the WDtv live hub. Registered on the unotelly website for the free 8 day trial. Got sent the primary and secondary dns.

I downloaded the unotelly android app.

When I go to the WD network setup, I'm stuck there. I have 2 DNS numbers. I'm not sure on what to input in the IP address, subnet mask and gateway.

I want to view UK content and Netflix, but I'm really not sure how to set this up. The same on my android tablet.

Firstly, you can configure Unotelly to your liking on their website.

After that, make sure you've updated your IP address on their system. One way of doing this is on their website.

Then just login with their DNS settings. You can put them in your router or an individual device. You can find your subnet mask listed in your router settings, and the gateway is the IP address of your primary router.

Unotelly has a very detailed help section on their website if you still struggle.

Basically the best way to do it is to put the DNS settings on your router.

You might be able to enter them on your media player as well under network settings.

Hi Chevron, yes in the media player is where I'm struggling. Under network settings there is subnet mask, gateway, ip address and dns. I received the primary and secondary dns from unotelly via mail, but the media player wants me to enter my ip address etc. Now , I don't want to add a local ip, as I'm assuming this would restrict me to using Netflix, and any UK and US content. So the question is, how do I get those settings to input into the WD TV?

Will have a look at this, but basically I'm a complete noob at this, so excuse my stupidity lol

Set up unotelly on your router - it will only use it for what it needs, everything else gets passed on to google's dns.

Okay, so let me get this right. If I go into the WD TV, do I enter my routers ip address, subnet mask and gateway, but enter the DNS that I received from unotelly?

No. If you want to set of the DNS on the WD TV, then the IP there is the IP you want the WD TV to have. The gateway would be your router's IP.

Ok so connected my router to my WD TV, did an automatic search and connected fine. Got my IP, gateway and subnet mask. Then once successfully connected, I then went an manually changed the DNS to the one I received via unotelly. Am I somehow now on the right track Chevron? Lol

That sounds about right :)

Thanks Chevron :), then im assuming i would just have to reset the WD Tv, or reboot it?

Um entered the DnS, did a reboot of WD tv but I do not see any changes. Still the same apps I saw before. Any suggestions guys?

Changing DNS settings shouldn't have any affect on the appearance of the WD Live TV. Unotelly settings don't even need to be on the device - the router is fine too. If the apps aren't present, they probably never will be. What is the exact model that you bought? What apps do you have?

I have the live hub. But then what's the point of unotelly? I thought it would unlock a few additional channels or content etc

you would still need to subscribe to a service like netflix or hulu.

you can however view content on iplayer and 4od

Don't understand this still. I followed what I'm assuming to be correct as per the help from Chevron etc. Changed the DnS to the one I received from Unotelly and rebooted the WD TV. I was under the impression then that additional content would appear under services, instead of the ones that is currently on.

So how do I get Netflix as an example to appear on my WD?

Forgive me I'm a complete noob and boob lol with this whole unotelly setup.

i don't have a wd tv but i imagine if you type wd tv netflix there will plenty relatively straightforward help available.

Unotelly has nothing to do with WD or any other set-top box. It's just a DNS changer that tricks online services into thinking you're in a particular geographic location. It would make no sense for additional apps to appear in a particular set-top box because that wouldn't happen if you carted it overseas with you.

My WD Live TV has apps for pretty much every popular service. If your WD box doesn't then it's not the right product. You can access Netflix from your PC to check if Unotelly is working.

Cool I understand that. My impression was just, that if I changed the DnS provided by Unotelly within the WD TV, that the apps like Netflix and Hulu would come up thinking I'm in another geographical location.

As I said, that wouldn't happen if you took your box overseas. The product is as it is. It doesn't even know or care what your location is - that's up for its apps to worry about. You could check your settings, check if your firmware is up to date and check if apps can possibly be downloaded; but if none of those work it's clearly just a case of having a product that isn't geared for watching Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer etc.
