I probably have more than R3000 in unpaid traffic violation fines. Since it's the festive season and there'll be road blocks all over the show, should I bite the bullet and go pay all my ticket fines soon? Or should I not give money to the government? :D

for what

Screw em i say... Money goes towards corrupt officials...if you can get away with it then score! Many legalities around this that you cause to fudge.

I just think its harsh to call someone disgusting.

And I did agree with you regarding paying his fines.

I didn't say he was disgusting, did I? I obviously meant the fact that he had that many unpaid tickets and is contemplating not paying it. I was referring to the act of not paying outstanding fines, especially given the total.

I got stopped yesterday, the cop brought me the print out with 2 outstanding fines, I queried it, she promptly returned with an extra 6 unpaid fines...

So much for a bonus this year

I was once arrested for not paying a R750- fine, and ended up paying R1500- at the magistrate.
I pay my fines, promptly, in full, no arguments.

Don't pay them. Does Tshwane Metro need the money? Get some different number plates (transpose 2 digits). Only a hawk-eyed cop will spot this and your chances are slim unless you do something stupid like driving under the influence, or have an accident in a public place. My friend who runs a hardware shop has different plates front and rear (the front one is CA123465 and the rear one is CA123456). He reckons he has saved thousands in camera fines. Of course one day...

That's disgusting. Go pay your fines.

Politicians and other public service employees get away with "murder" so why can't I? Why do I always have to donate money to government and then have them misuse those monies? Why do you?

Exactly!

That's what I'm afraid of.......

What is disgusting is the sheer number of illegal tickets I have received and am now expected to pay. I am in a similar boat and am waiting to see what happens with the Justice Project South Africa's class action.

As a future ANCYL leader you are setting a poor example.

this^

i was thinking the same thing he just bragged about it on the other thread and here he does not want to pay some fines

but i guess he just aksing to say he got that amount of fines where as we know he will get the squashed

I don't pay fines unless they are delivered to me by registered mail as per the Road Traffic Offences Act.

If I genuinely did something wrong and get fined for it, sure, I will go pay. I once got pulled over and then discovered to my dismay that I had left my license at home. That was my bad, I went and paid the fine. But otherwise I refuse.

http://aarto.co.za/ssm.asp tells me everything I need to know.
Of course, I've never received a speeding ticket or any other type of ticket except for that one license-less incident.

Agreed, it is our right.

I went and checked on the speeding fine that I received... only to see my wife behind the wheel!!!
