Unrestricted APN

Hi Guys, i also got hold of Vodacom to activate the unrestricted APN on my SIM as i cant connect to a PS Portal remotely. Once they have activated the unresztricted APN, what do i need to change on my phone APN settings? Whats the process?

I figured it out . You need to go to your router’s ip address and then update the APN as follows

Profile name: vodacom-unrestricted
IP type: IPv4/IPv6
APN: unrestricted

And then leave the rest of the fields blank.

Then you enable UPnP and NAT settings to Cone

When you are done, you simply restart your router . Everything should work
 
Wow... some of you are lucky, I must have followed up over 8 times with them from 2021 without getting a single reply.
 
Hi Guys are you sure you have to apply for the unrestricted APN.

Have the Home 100Mbps FPU package inputting unrestricted as APN works but I can't tell it's doing anything.
 
Oh you have to apply for the Unrestricted APN via Vodacom before those settings can work … You should receive an IP address with the following range (41.192.X.X) once you are on unrestricted This can be checked on (https://whatismyipaddress.com/ ) once connected

My IP is 41.13.xx.xx
Im on the unrestriced apn profile
Does that mean my sim is already setup for unrestricted? This is a new home lte deal taken out in Dec.

From what the guys are saying you are if you getting a 41.13.xx.xx ip.

I applied the same day.... so the 19th April 2024.

Phoned in the next day... gave the reference as you get one once you email the [email protected] email address on the sheet.

Guys says I have to restart the router as it should be activated.
Get a call about 15mins later with him saying I should email the form and ID to [email protected] <[email protected]> he knows about it and expecting my email.

But as with usually Vodacom fashion nothing.... no response and it's still not working?
Still getting a 100.78.x.x ip with the unrestricted APN.

They like Telkom now... no real customer support.

I have the Vodacom Uncapped 10mbps (Black Friday Deal). However since taking out this simcard it has just been frustration. The internet shows anything between 2mbps and 10mbps on the speed test but that also lags to start if you get what I am saying. Also many websites are inaccessible for example I cannot access the www.anydesk.com website.
Sometimes we cannot even send out whatsapp. The connection is there but no data gets sent or received. Network signal very good. We have tried this simcard in different routers and different areas and it does the exact same thing. You can be browsing a website and click the next page and then it doesn't load. Then after 2 minutes of trying suddenly you get access again.
We tried another Vodacom simcard in the same routers and works like a charm. Stable and reliable connectivity.

I went a few times to the VODACOM stores and they claim they cannot see any fault on their systems (Not physically testing the sim card. Everything is fine and they claim they doing a RESET on their side and it should be fine. But it's not fine. This sim has some sort of restrictions besides the basic 10mbps.
Any suggestions?

They claim they can see my request but the application ticket was not created.
They said will create it and I have to wait another 5 to 7 days.

So we 9 working days in so week 2 of this....
 
any other sites that you cant connect to?
Haven't really taken note of others that are constantly blocked. We do find that certain servers are blocked the one day and then the next day they work. Yet these same servers work everyday with Telkom or another Vodacom Simcard.

Yeah a few years ago you could fill that one form in and then it would just happen. Since then i have had two sims we needed assitance with and nothing ever happened.

use to know a guy at VC from the old myvc forum but i dont think that exists anymore as he would assist me with wifi calling for clients.
 
They sent me an email asking for the phone number of the simcard. I replied a few times but they no responding. Pathetic Vodacom service. We paying for a service that cannot do what it promised. And so we stuck with slows unreliable connection.
