Did they mention that they sell email addresses at all?
 
Such a conflicting article. So they sell email addresses and do not deny it.
 
Pretty sure they sell anonymized contents of the emails, not just the addresses....

They don't sell email addresses at all. They sell anonymized data - in this case Lyft receipts to Uber. The receipts were anonymized so it doesn't indicate who the people using lyft were but it gives uber an idea of how the competition is doing, where to focus it's marketing, etc...

I assume anonymous means they don't include email addresses. Their Privacy policy says:
Our Collection and Use of Non-Personal Information
