Hey
I was wondering has any1 here try adsl unshaped does it really make that big a difference on international game servers???Will I be able to play dota on a international server?

Try using Garena for Dota. Think it has some kind of build in netcode, don't notice any lag even on a host with 500 ping.

seriously yes - nothing more to say than that :)

...as stoke say not the traditional fps-es though

I get 220ms using WA unshaped to WoW europe, and that's with up to 4 playing simultaneously on the same server (haven't tried more peeps, but should still be fine for a few more), 3 on local TS, and local downloads going on in the background (4mb ftw).

I would go as far as saying unshaped is a requirement to play on international servers.
You will regret it if you don't have it.
My unshaped is on average between 100-200ms better than my shaped. This is at the best of times on both connections. Shaped often goes ballistic.
I also play on EU servers, Frankfurt if I am not mistaken. The game is Guild Wars and all the players are on the same servers, no matter where you are from or connecting to, even America and Asia.

Although it's not gaming related, I have used Verizon unshaped bandwidth because I grew tired with SSH lag and let me tell you - I got better latencies with my test shaped SAIX based account for some reason.

I haven't tried unshaped SAIX, but that was a real let down for me. Judging from the posts above, I should give SAIX unshaped a try though ;)

Why not is semi shaped or unshaped?

I prefer the stability of SAIX (although not that it means it is stable compared to world class service). I often see posts on the forum regarding problems with IS and those worry me.

Those are the normal is accounts. IS have those fibre accounts that are more stable. The semi shaped one does belong there.

After hours it is faster than saix shaped.
