Unshaped Already Implemented

I have some minor confirmations that Unshaped has indeed been implemented. Anyone else able to confirm everyone has been unshaped. Just not very sure, since some things still point to no... well one thing, but that could just be because Telkom warned us that shaping was there to protect blah blah... yeah, anyways.. let me know
 
well that depends waht test you did, ping is never shaped in the first place and 400ms is normal between South Africa and U.S/E.U
 
With UUnet I get 200 to UK. With TelkomDSL I get 400+

Go figure

I dont see any difference - what means are you using for your "minor confirmations"?
 
Well I tried a little skyping and that was much better improved also for the first time I could download at above 40 on a single bittorrent file download where in the past it maxed at 12-16 and I could only reach 56 on multiple file downloads! Do not knoe if unshaping is the cause or just any other reason or luck!

mmm I dont have an unshaped account but my speeds on non standard ports have been pretty decent for the past month... in the 30-40kbps range on the 384 package..
 
Well if it's been decent for the past month then it's got nothing to do with the new developments over the past few days.

It might just get slower for you soon as everyone will be raping the network :rolleyes:
 
unless telkom knew about the regulation has been preparing in advance :p

You might be right with them knowing about it in advance.
 
I saw results from pings done on the 80 port and then a ping done on other random ports. Results were bascially the same. Usually pings on a random port would result in slight increase due to traffic shaping, especially during peak network time.
 
MrG - Thats weird, Telkom have never shaped icmp packets before so doing ping tests on different ports should result in the same latency group.
 
You can't ping a port as ping and TCP operate at different layers.
 
He explained how he did it via company network or something.. I will get explaination... the guy works at SAIX so I would trust him.. he also had his own ISP which was sold to Imaginet I believe...

Anyways... my latency is the same in WoW between my TelkomInternet and WebAfrica Unshaped Account

heheh.. well i'm still timeout session is 12hr.. but then thats my isp set amount.
