My connection on Neotel is up and down tonight, basically all day.

By that I mean, it's downloading a file at 50KB/s, then stops, nothing happening for 10 seconds, then it starts again, stops, starts, stops, starts.

What is going on?!?

No!

If anything happens, it's generally means SOMETHING is happening with Neotel.

It's windy in CPT as you know.
When it's windy, my connection quality (speeds) drop.
When it's raining, it drops too.
When it's a nice sunny day the line works decently.

It's not like it's bloody cloudy outside...

We use Neoflex at the office 10gb package, we are lucky to be fairly close to the Tokai base station and our line is fairly constant at 160kbs.

Are you in a high neotel usage area? Perhaps the tower is over utilized, can cause packet loss. How are you dialing up, via the Neotel dashboard, or doing it manually as a on demand dial up, or are you on Neoflex.....

I had the SAME problems with my Neotel Prime device when I lived in Gardens. It would do EXACTLY what you've described. If you're in town, it's probabaly the same internal Neotel issue, nothing to do with your hardware. Blame the tower, blame Neotel....

Up and Down, Up and Down

Maybe it's trying to get it's sexy back? :D

My Speed is also up and down and also getting alot of disconnections with the up and down speeds and it happens when downloading torrents and NZB's and big downloads

Same here, speeds have dropped for me, sluggish connection, disconnects, reconnects, slow, stopping etc.

Just another day of Neotel.

Crap device , crap infrastructure design.......

I hated Telkom, but now I hate Neotel even more. When Neotel became available in my area I didn't hesitate to sign up and it was joy until last year October 2009. I cancelled with them in November and they provided me with an antenna in the month of December to see if they can keep me, but no help. December was my notice month. I just hope they don't fark this up too by billing me for January 2010.

Hugo, can you even explain why we all having connection drops?

Specifics

Hugo, can you even explain why we all having connection drops?

Over the past two weekends especially last weekend pior with the redundancy testing, it threw downtimes nationally on the CDMA sites, where rollbacks had to be improvised and then re-run.

As for connection drops, if its not matched in the dowmtime/scheduled maintanance, then its important for me to doc this and get NOC to give more insight

Why are we being the test bunnies? that sucks! I pay for service why do I need to test and help you make the network stable?

Because we just are.
I"m waiting for Neotel to refund me some 'months' costs for being a 'valuable' test subject.

Hmmm yes, I al also experiencing up and downs. The line doesn't actually disconnect as such, but you cannot get any data through or ping a site like google etc. Then its best to close and restart the connection. Actually have a lil program running in the background now to tell me when I can no longer ping google.

Problem is if you are downloading files, you have to start all over again. :S
