Neotel thanks you for your feedback. We are aware of the network performance and speed queries. Our team is working earnestly to resolve these queries with minimum disruption to our customers.

The key reasons for the poor speed is pre-dominantly a result of over capacitated base stations, also known as congested sites. We have conducted carrier upgrades and are acquiring additional sites in the respective areas to permanently alleviate these problems.

Below we have articulated the details of sites and status:

1. Sites that have been upgraded, but still require additional base stations to completely expel these problems::(
• Bedfordview
• Megawatt Park
• Halfway Gardens
• Randburg Square
• Cape Town Gardens

2. Sites that have been upgraded and are fully functional::):)
• Bramley Park
• Bordeaux
• Noordwyk
• Panorama

3. Sites that are in the process of being upgraded:
• Florida
• Emmerentia
• Montana
• Olivedale

We would like to welcome any further input regarding poor speed or network performance, so that personal attention can be given to distressed users. Please PM us if you would like us to respond to you personally. We’ll be happy to see if your problem is related to this, or if there is anything else we can do.
Thank you for your continuous support

Too little!
Too late!

Once you've lost a client through bad service and incompetent staff, you won't EVER get them back!

thanks for the information! look foward to megawatt park being upgraded. Hope you post more like this all the time!

Neotel rep, how long does it take to do an "upgrade" for a tower? Is it something quick or are we talking months?

Neotel Rep - Can you give PNs as well as the suburbs. I am on PN 124 in Weltevredenpark and I'm struggling to open emails. I managed to send a 200kb email & another 1MB email cannot be sent because the server disconnects.

Browsing is a nightmare. When is NEOTEL going to sort this out?

Speeds

Guys, you know of course that speeds will always vary on a multiple access network. Clearly Neotel is committed to getting stuff done for us. I'm In Bedfordview and I can attest to the fact that there has been a slight improvement in my speeds. Hooray Neotel! I pm'ed the rep and he assured that they have a hectic rollout schedule planned around us guys that have been complaining. Just a little more patience - they are trying from the looks of things.

GO NEOTEL! :D:D:D:D

+2 interwebs points for Neotel response. Clear answer to the problems, No sidestepping and no responsibility dodging.

Nice.
Hope they keep this up.

Lots of bad posts going around at the moment. If they keep up with their responses then we might just see a light at the end of this fibre tunnel.

Since Neotel know they've got problems... why do we as customers have to take the financial hit?

I challenge Neotel not to debit my bank account at the end of this month! It would be a much grander gesture than making lots of promises...

I just want to know when the above stations will fully function?
My connection of BitTorrent is just half than before.

But connection speed other than BT it seems to be improved a lot.

I rather want to have more BT speed than browsing speed :(
Anyway, good job, keep improving is a good thing ..... :o

I am on top of Weltevreden in Florida Park (14th Avenue), Neotel must be upgrading the FLORIDA Tower at the moment as service was down for about 5-10 minutes and backup. Seems a little worse than before and after 30 mins or so no disconnections.

Kasbah If you give me some of your upload speed I'll give you some of my download speed. The upload seems to affect browsing speed as well as sending of mail.
I sent the palookas another email to ignore.

Really slow/intermittent broadband the last two days

I have been having problems the last two days (the whole weekend) with a neotel prime unlimited connection.

The problems seem to be related to packet loss from what I can see, any maintenance going on over the weekend? The speed seems very intermittent and of course there is a good dose of connection drops going with this. However it seems that things are getting a bit better the further we getting into the weekend, bu tit is still extremely poor compared to how it use to be.

There is no heavy downloads happening atm just straight forward browsing.

My location South Crest, Alberton

speedtest.neotel.co.za (can't seem to complete a test on speedtest.net due to the packet loss issues)
DL: 747kbps (the average was more like 100kbps)
UL: 71kbps

Hope this is resolved extremely soon
