The Electoral Laws Amendment Act had to be passed through parliament. This obviously happened because the ANC has the majority.
Parlimentarians vote on bills individually and through a secret ballot. There is a chance that some would vote against their own party's stance.
Did you know that every Australian citizen 18 years or older has to vote in their federal elections. By law. Even if they live overseas. Their government is not scared to accept true democracy like ours.
A true democracy should allow one the choice not to vote if they don't want to.
I never said there were no blacks overseas but the vast majority are whites.
...the majority of South Africans abroad are what, so what, don't any whites vote for the ANC ?

True the vast majority of those abroad are whites who were forced to ply their skills on an even playing field abroad, in addition to avoiding the crime problem that the ANC clearly has no intention of tackling.
I have met a few non-white South African's working in the UK mainly in the medical profession, and I'm confident they too would not vote ANC if given the opportunity to vote.
whatever gives you such confidence?

Highly unlikely considering that the ANC has the most to lose from the foreign vote.

A true democracy should allow one the choice not to vote if they don't want to.

They have the right to spoil the ballot. The point is that so no one can complain about not being allowed to vote.

I have never met a white person who has said they vote ANC. And why would any? The ANC has brought in AA/BEE that discriminate against whites.

Well, I've met at least one white person who voted ANC. And he studied Law.

That's your argument down the crapper, isn't it?

Not at all. There are always a few retarded people around who do things that are against their own best interests.

Meh. Your argument was that you didn't know a single white person who voted ANC, therefore there aren't any.

Actually my argument was that I don't know any whites who vote ANC, and it would be stupid for any whites to vote ANC.

I read somewhere in the last few weeks that only a few hundred people abroad voted in 94 or 99. And that it cost a few million to organise this. Did anyone else read that article and maybe have a link. Does anyone know how many expats voted in the previous elections?

:confused::eek:

I d rather die than vote ANC, but this is not about race, it has nothing to do with one being black, white or purple, atleast to me its not. Anyways you are entitled to your opinion..

Only expats working for the Gvt, or those on business or holiday? were allowed to vote, everyone else was disenfranchised. As for the cost - who knows.

Anyways the High court has just ruled it discriminatory that people living overseas were disenfranchised: http://www.mg.co.za/article/2009-02-09-high-court-rules-in-favour-of-expat-vote
