A Los Angeles hospital spokeswoman says actress Brittany Murphy has died. She was 32.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Spokeswoman Sally Stewart says Murphy died at 10:04 a.m. Saturday. She would not provide a cause of death, or any other information.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Devon Gale says crews responded to a call at 8 a.m. Saturday from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, who is married to Murphy. Gale says one person was transported to a hospital.

Messages left for Murphy's manager, agent and publicist weren't immediately returned.

The actress starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

Ja, its sad, Just Married was on TV just the other day and just this morning I saw the Little Black Book DVD cover on the shelf when we went to rent some DVDs...

interestingly she has 5 movies coming out next year.

Uhm... WTH is Brittany Murphy? *googles*
Oh yeah, I remember her. I saw a movie with her and Samuel Jackson once, wasn't half bad.

FRIENDS of Hollywood actress Brittany Murphy said she "definitely had a drug problem" amid fears she may have died from taking the same prescription drugs as Michael Jackson

Murphy, 32, was reportedly hooked on prescription drugs, including Vicodin, after a series of plastic surgery operations made her dependent on painkillers.

Law enforcement sources tell us Murphy collapsed in the bathroom and somehow ended up in the shower … there was, we’re told, a significant amount of vomit in the immediate area.

We’re also told authorities did not find illegal drugs in the house, but Murphy was definitely taking various prescription meds.

So it appears we have another MJesque victim of prescription medication. Someone may need to reign in these doctors.

Why? Giving someone prescription pills it not the same thing. People should take responsibility for themselves in the case of these painkillers.

Agreed. I feel no pity for someone that abuses drugs or scheduled medicines.
