Now this is an interesting Laptop.

Apparently it comes with a full fledged GTX 1060, and with a i7 8750H on a 15.6" Full HD 144hz panel.
And with this laptop you need to basically build your own spec....Nothing else is included, so you'll need to spec it up with storage, OS, power brick, and RAM

What do you guys think of this one?

I believe with this you can install a fresh windows without the bloatware from the manufacturer. But now its the drivers that I'm worried about....

So Guys, as the topic said, I need help assisting in choosing laptop.

I have been browsing all over the net for good IT online shops or physical stores that sells good selection of laptops thats quite reasonably priced, and I found Evetech the best place.

What I wanted to know is.....

Between these few laptops, very similar spec and price, which will you choose? and most importantly how RELIABLE are these brands?

Dell G5 15 5587
i7 -8750H
GTX 1060 Max Q
16GB DDR4
256SSD + 1TB HDD
15.6" 60hz IPS 1080p
R21 339

Lenovo Legion Y530
i7 -8750H
GTX 1060 Max Q
16GB DDR4
256SSD + 2TB HDD
15.6" 60hz IPS 1080p
R23 399

Asus FX504GM (From Another place)
i7 -8750H
GTX 1060 Max Q
16GB DDR4
128SSD + 2TB HDD
15.6" 60hz 1080p
R25 000+/-

Ok so for the 1060 gpu laptops, it should last me a long time, as my previous PC that I build had Radeon HD7950 so with the 1060 max q its definitely an upgrade.

Now what I wanted to know is, which brand would you guys pick personally? Don't mind the price?

From what I heard is Asus laptop, especially FX504 is problematic, but this was last years review etc, not sure whats happening after some updates from Asus.
Lenovo is good, but I heard that this laptop kinda overheats? CPU reaches high 90c
Dell is decent, but not sure about its reliability?

IF PUSH comes to SHOVE

What do you guys think of MSI laptops in general? Quite a few people I've met say MSI doesn't build quality laptops, and some say they not bad but might have reliability.

MSI GE63 Raider 8RF
with 1070m gpu and i7 8750?
around R30 000

Please let me know what you guys think?

I would go with the Dell, especially if you can include, if possible, next business day warranty over and above the existing..

Then you have no issues with reliability, since there will be someone at your place the next day to fix anything..

I would wait until the end of the month when the new mobile rtx variants become available.
You should be spoilt for choice and you will be future proofing your purchase.

Thinking the same, was gonna get a laptop for my birthday, but now CES happened and I guess I'll have to wait.....But most likely I'll still come back to 10series, as the newer gpu laptops won't be released in the next month....Or anytime soon for SA

If I do purchase from Evetech, how do one go about and get that sort of warranty?

Do I register with Dell?

But what you're saying, is Dell not reliable

No, what I am saying is that reliability is less of a concern with that warranty.. Dell laptops are generally reliable, especially in the upper range..

Typically you ask the retailer for the additional warranty..

I have never bought from Evetech and from the thread posted by ponder, I never will, so I can't speak for them and how and if they offer the warranty..

The problem with many ASUS laptops is that their batteries and chargers (basic consumables) aren't stocked in SA. Had to wait 6 weeks for a ROG 120W charger to be imported by Rectron..

Ah ok, now I see...

Yeah, I don't think i'll be buying laptops from Evetech now. I'm going with Wootware...Not because of the thread, but because they are based in Cape Town, so I can literally drive to pick up my laptop and if there is any problem (God Forbid) then I can atleast get it sorted far quicker and somewhat safer.

They aren't? I mean....how inconvenient is that?

Go with Dell and upgrade to a 3 year onsite warranty. They fix it at your office/house.

Most of the Dell's we sell into the SME market, comes with a 3 year warranty included.

But those are the Vostro's with W10 Pro. I think the Inspiron's with W10 SL only come with 1 yr warranty.

Ok got it, but what about MSI warranty?

Oh Nice, but whats this Demo laptops? Are they the laptops thats on display or something?

And will the warranty still be 3 years after purchase?

Not sure but they look brand spanking new, the one I organised for a friend did not come in the original dell box.

I honestly don't remember, I know it came with the 3yr dell warranty but not sure if it was still the full 3yrs or minus a few months. PM Flashgear and ask him.
