Hi everyone, today I phoned telkom (10219) and requested to be upgraded to a 4mb line from my 384 line. The call went fine got my ref num etc. Anyway not hoping for much but when I got home I have no internet at all?

I am connected to DSL all green lights on router and I am still syncing at 384 but not connecting to any ISP? I have tried different accounts and nothing? Is this a fault with telkom or ISP's?

Please any help is appreciated.

It sometimes happens, or that the line is dead for a while during upgrades. Just log it with the call center & let them fix it.

Ok just an update: My line is working again but is syncing at 512 this morning? When my exchange can to 1mb according to telkom on top of that I have great attenuation and noise:

Connection Speed 512 kbps 256 kbps
Line Attenuation 13 db 3.5 db
Noise Margin 31 db 20 db

Shouldn't i be getting the full 4mb??

your attenuation and noise levels look good. I would call telkom and ask them why its running at 512 and not higher, maybe the forced it down to 512 because it was unstable?
generally when I have called in to ask for an upgrade its been done while I was on the phone, the router disconnects for about a minute then resync's this has happened when I went from 384 to 512 and from 512 to 4096

Another update after speaking to Telkom this morning, it seems that the order only went through for an upgrade to 512! The guy says they will have to open a new order for the 512 to 1meg (4meg) option and that I should phone tomorrow if it hasn't gone through.

I really think I should have just moved and upgraded to Axxess or Webafric instead of upgrading myself first. Then they could deal with Telkom, still going to transfer across though.

Got it upgraded :D How did I ever cope with 384kb?
