Hi

Here is my dilemma....
I am due for an upgrade, still within my contract, i am on topUp 750.
So i go into the outlet and i ask for their catalogue. I choose SGS2 + SG Tab 10.1 R599 pm, also available on topUp 350 at R719pm, with 75MB. and i was told that it was not available for me. I then chose SG Note, which was offered on R399pm AnyTime 200, but is also available on TopUp 350 without any upfront payment, for R549pm with 300MB, THIS was apparently not available for me on TopUp 750 too. I was told that if i want to drop to topUp 350, i must then downgrade which would cost me R2k or so... I dont want to down grade.

Is it not baffling that phones available at lower contracts are not available for higher contracts?

I would like someone to advise as to why these deals are not available for me as i already pay R750pm.
*i was sent the deal sheet, there is not TopUP 750 in it, the highest Top Up was 350*

Update: managed to upgrade this past weekend. Was assisted by a very knowledgeable gentleman:). He actually knew what he was doing, it was a breeze for him.:D

Stupid question. Why would it cost R2k to downgrade?

I think you may be going about this the wrong way. If you contract is near its end, you do not need to pay a downgrade fee. Simply cancel the present contract, and apply for a new one on the lower package... Problem solved :-)

You can change it once the 24 months are over. They subsidise the pay-in according to contract. If you got a better phone on a higher level contract and then change to a lowere level contract, then they charge you.

I think OP still has a few months left of his contract, so it's an "early upgrade".

yes i stil have 4-3 months b4 24 months is over.
so i cant Cancel the contract

If its upgrade time he can downgrade and not pay a penalty, of course he only starts paying new subscription after month 24
I get the feeling which ever mtn consultant the Op is speaking to doesn't know much. Most of the phones are available onto anytime /top up 350 with little or no pay in

i need a lot of airtime. so i dont really wanna go to a lower contract and i dont want an open contract.
i just dont get why they cant figure out their own deals...
if its on 350TopUp why cant it be on 750TopUp?:wtf::confused:

It can chances are on such a high contract there is no extra for the phone, consultant is either lazy to check or stupid

i checked with consultants in 2 outlets, i also called upgrades dept and they all couldnt figure it out...
yesterday i walked in and asked: "I m on 750TopUp... which phone can i get?"
and the lady said, confidently: "Any phone, sir...!"
at the end she had a baffled look on her face...

Too bad we dont have an official mtn rep as yet to help on My BB.
Look for voldemort, he works for MTN, maybe he can get some one who actualy can help you out.

It was promised by voldemort few weeks ago.

I have the latest list of phones available on all their contracts and the pay in is lower for the higher packages. Go to another branch.
