Hi all,

I was wondering if it is at all possible to upgrade my DSL line speed without having to phone Telkom for it? I absolutely despise being on the line for close to 30 minutes with them just to get the call dropped in the end because of our lovely cellphone reception in this country.

Any advice?

Telkom Shop nearby?

... although you might finish up hanging on for 10210 on the in-house phone, at least it's not your dime.

Don't go to a Telkom shop. The first thing they do when you get there (once you've waited in their insane queues) is phone 10210.

I'd recommend migrating your line to another ISP, and then you can upgrade/downgrade/cancel online, with zero human interaction.

This. All our clients with ADSL migrated to the ISP. I upgrade lines with a click of a mouse via WA.

So you've got ADSL… which means you've got a phone line… yet you call telkom from your cellphone?

You have an internet connection but cannot click on a few links to apply for an upgrade?

Then don't call from a cellphone?

10210 is a free call from Cellc, Telkom Mobile and Telkom.

I think 10210 is the fastest way to upgrade your line if it is with Telkom because the order is placed and you actually get a order number after the call.

I don't own a home phone. The telephone line is only there for my internet connection.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the advice. I think the best course of action would be to migrate my line. :)

Huh? What?

Mweb normally. They are always taking TI to the competition commission on a weekly basis to ensure TI isn't being subsidized by Telkom. If Mweb put half as much effort into their own products, they would be good products.

Um no. Never ever ever give any ISP your line. You're just asking for trouble.

Rather spend the R60 to pick up a home phone.

Remind us why again please? Is it because one is then tied to the ISP until migrating away from them?

As of November, my line only is with AH (previously I had line and data bundled from them). I found it handy to increase my line speed online via ClientZone for December. I get my data from WA and FNB Connect currently.

edit: Line upgrade took 36 hours to take affect after actioning it via ClientZone.
