Hi Guys

My upgrade is due in the next 2 weeks, so looking at Huawei phones as preference, but other brands also in the reckoning except Samsung.

P10 or P10+ or Mate9 or Mate10

Anyone have any of those phones and give their feedback on device.

Would appreciate it guys. Budget is R600-R650

Thanks

I moved from an LG G4 to an LG g6.
fantastic phone. it just quietly does its thing, while the samungs and apples bling their way into people's pockets offering flashy gimics.

one of my close friends went from an LG G4 (my recommendation) to a P10.
he is quite happy with the phone.

having played wiht his phone I can say the G6 honestly feels more stable in my hand.
but at this stage when it comes to the shootout of the top 4 or 5 phones, best advice is go and play with real life copies of the phones and see what you like most in your hand. specs wise everything is so close its not even funny.

Imported myself a Xiaomi Mi5 about 2 months ago (for a 3rd of the price in SA). I am very happy with my upgrade from my LG G4 (which I also liked very much).
The Mi6 is also out now and apparently much better.

Better option to buy/import a phone and take a sim only contract. You usually get a better deal with voice and data than a package deal. It is also easier to break a sim only contract if you get the shts with your network.

Other than paying a lot less for an imported phone, after 12 months you just get a newer, better phone and you are still in the black. No better feeling than to always have a newer phone than your mates and normally a better spec'ed one at that.

Nokia 3310

The Huawei phone my wife has is performing exceptionally well. Exceptional battery life and perfect for her needs. A low-end model, but if I was to get another Smart Phone I will be looking at the Huawei models.

I see Vodaphone has the P10 and P10+ with a free P8 lite for R579 or R599

I have a locally supplied Mate 9 which replaced Note 4 (RIP) then an interim G4.
Overall the phone is fantastic! Don't see myself going back to Samsung anytime soon.
But and there is a Big one. Huawei locally, in my experience simply do not support their products with software updates the way they do overseas.
The Mate 9 should have received at least 2 software updates but nada.
That said the phone is FAST, screen good, their AI seems to actually work and the battery and charger are great.
Just the camera takes a bit of getting used to.

Assuming your contract officially comes to an end in September you really can't wait to see what new phones launch in SA so my choice with be the LG G6

I'm amazed to see so many people punting G6 after having a G4. I had a G2, currently G4 and my wife has a G5 and the battery life on all 3 are exceptionally *@#&. A colleague at work has the same experience. Are we just unlucky or is the general awesomeness of the phones enough that it cancels out the crappy battery life?

If you want one I think the BlackBerry KeyOne is going on sale in July but other than that, you can expect the Motorola Z2 to Launch around November or December just like the Moto Z.

The rumored Nokia flagship, if it is ever announced this year, will only arrive next year, the Mate 10 will also arrive next year.

the G4 did have terrible battery life.
the G6 is much improved. I get on average 5 hours of SOT, and I get 4 hours of hectic pokemon go out of a full charge. this is about half an hour more than an S8.
on saturday I spent the day with a guy with an S8, and we both drained our phones and then only plugged into power banks.

the G6 got hotter than the s8, but lasted about half an hour longer
