Upgrade - E220 instead of phone

I apologize if it has been asked before but can't find when searching.

Is it possible on a TopUp 135 when doing an upgrade to take the E220 modem instead of a cellphone ?

i think it can be done but only with certain versions of the software that allow sms. the version that i got with my e220 does not. and no one seems to have been confident about upgrading the software. since i run mostly on linux and don't need the software i may give it a try and will let you know if i do

Since TopUp is a sort of hybrid between pre-paid and contract, and [searchforum]PPDB[/searchforum]s are now available, you should be seeing special deals where an E220 is offered instead of a phone - probably best to keep an eye on specials offered by individual stores in your area.

Can't see why not, if you can find a Vodashop that can think laterally. The contracts have a rand value that is used to pick the phone that goes with it. So you should be able to get a modem in place with a phone, with some cash adjustment.
