Hi There

I have someone that want to upgrade his pc. All he need is motherboard, RAM, Graphics card and CPU. He is playing at a resolution of 1366x768. I want him to play at constant 50-60+FPS on Battlefield 3 medium graphics.

now I was thinking of the following

i5-3570k
MSI z77-G43
corsair 8GB RAM 1600MHz
geforce gtx 550TI.

I'm a bit worried about that gtx 550TI and the CPU. Maybe he can go with a lower end CPU and maybe a H77/h67 motherboard and better gpu

Edit: Oh and one more thing is that I prefer Nvidia cards

the cpu is a bit overkill , rater go for i5 2400 or the i5 3450(whatever the lowest ivybridge i5 is called), and get him a decent gpu like hd 7850.

nvidia currently don't have any midrange kepler cards :(

you can buy a gtx 560 ti if you want nvidia.

The 550Ti should easily handle BF3 at 1366x768. Rather drop the CPU to an i5 3450, the motherboard to a B75, upgrade to a Radeon 7850 and invest the left over cash into a good 1920x1080 monitor.

ok let's see what I can get

will this motherboard be ok

I'm running a q6600 with gtx 550ti in another machine here at home and can't handle bf3 on low @ 1920x1080. maybe it's the cpu bottlenecking the system.

ok so for R6k i can get the following so far.

I5-3450
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
Corsair XMS3 8GB
Gigabyte AMD 7850

TOTAL = R5837. He get he's pc parts from someone else but just wanted an idea of what he can get for R6k.

The CPU is most likely bottle necking the system. I built a PC around a couple months back for my cousin with GTX 550Ti and an i7 (he was using it mostly for Video Editing/Photoshop), was getting around 35 fps on BF3 running at Ultra. Try overclocking your Q6600, most users generally see an improvement in BF3 with around a 500mhz overclock on a Q6600.

The Gigabyte B75M-D3H, would be perfect for your budget.
