Was thinking of maybe upgrading to a 8800gts 320mb version, I read that the Ram on it can slow it down obviously if an app needs to go over & was wondering if this card is really worth it since it is relatively cheap compared to most G cards today & then another thing was wondering about was I remember reading here that your CPU can bottleneck the card, is this true? & if so I have a AMD 3500+, would this cause any problems & then lastly how much power does this guy use :P

Thanx in advance

Full current PC specs?
What do you want to do with the machine (specifically games and apps, maybe OS)?

Current specs
Asus M2N-E
AMD 3500+ AM2
XFX 7800gtx 256mb
1.5 gig DDR2 ram
1x250gig
1x160gig
400 watt no name PSU :(

Comp mainly for gaming and movies and music :)

I'd give it another few months dude. That PC isnt half bad, and who knows what is going to happen when ATi release the R600, Nvidia will probably slash prices even more :)

That CPU will be a bottleneck for a 8800 and you will definately need a new psu!

Also, I dont know if 400 watts is enough?? It might be, but just.

Hmm I had a feeling about the CPU and PSU :) what kind of CPU is required to take full advantage of the 8 series or future DX10 cards, would it be limited to a dual core? or is it mainly based on the speed of the CPU?

well the latest i heard on gpureview is one of inf files now has a 8800ultra in it,

so it should be out soon with gddr 4 how much it will cost i dunno

i would wait 320 meg isnt really alot these days, but this card can hold its own on any game out at the moment so ive read :)

hold on a lil while though brawler is spot on but he better stop teabaggin or else im teabag back teeeheee

lol... give it some time... the prices will come down a little more. and once they do... you can get a 320mb 8800gts and new cpu. and 320 mb aint that bad. sure it.s not i deal, but im sure playing games on complete max is gonna be not happening. and if you really are hard up for horse power... then you buy a well overclocked modell and there you go... great performance for a great price

well afraik all current cpu's are bottlenecks for the 8800GTX, so go for the best that you can afford, a C2D e6400, e6600 are probable the best value. If you want to keep your motherboard you can get the new Athlon X2 6000+ (prev known as FX64) , rivals e6700/e6600 at similar price, maybe a bit more.
