Ok so I would like to be hit up with every and any advice from you guys who are in the know, or who own any of these handsets....

When I decided what to go for, I got "THE LIST" from a helpful lady at the 4U Vodashop in Berea, East London, now you gotta understand getting any phone here, takes about 3 weeks, thus, I need to make sure wich one I am gonna get, to have it here on time...

The driving factor behind my choice is the data capabilities, these all claim HSDPA, but given that, my mom has the W910i and ive tried to connect on several occasions. U only get 236.8 kbps from it.... my hauwei in exactly the same spot picks up 1.8mbps connection... i know its not perfect conditions but its still faster than the phone, and thats just dissapointing. I want to get my handset for faster internet than my 5years old datacard..... so please hit me up on that issue...

then number 2, look at the following specs, they all claim different features.... confusing really...c702 got gps...wich is rad... w910i got a crappy camera, sux, but awesome on music... yeah...
ku990 looks smart, got a 5mp camera, and claimed battery life that outruns the sony ericsson...but my whole idea was to get away from the complicated crap, i mean i got my vox, i just need a normal phone now.... what to do fellas?

(HOW LONG BEFORE THAT TOUCHSCREEN GETS SCRATCHED )

You see my dilemma?

and most importantly, is any of these phones gonna impress me with data speed? How user friendly is the internet connection interfaces, coz SE never really offered a lot of control from their internet control panel... just connect and disconnect, no connection type settings options etc... and the LG i have never owned, so i would not know....

guys guys, stick to my list, i cant really go more than 6k, im on a top up 315s.... so theres limited choice...

I'm in the same predicament, I recently upgraded to an Omnia... nice features, however I didn't know Windows Mobile sucked so bad! It was the most infuriating thing I've ever used, so I gave it away before it go embedded into one of my walls. And now I'm back on my K800i...

Out of your list, I would stick with Sony Ericsson.

the k800 was the best phone i ever owned... next to a old ericsson t10s wich was indestructable and had one line display though... :( lol the old days...

you should get tornado power control and clock that omnia you would have been more happy, the vox aint all that bad once you oc it. my main setback with wm6 was the slowness on the vox coz of the vox basically havin the same ram and processor as the n70 which was also dead slow with symbian...anyways...

im stuck between nice music player on the 910 to gps on the 702..and the 702 got the same camera as the k800 but no xenon flash, it uses led's...so i wonder why why oh why no flash? its sad....

Ja, it's still the best phone I've ever used :D That's why I wasn't too phased going back to it, although it does look like it's been through hell!

With the Omnia, the OS was slow, but that didn't bother me as much as the keyboard, and these stupid tiny scroll bars everywhere, with a screen that wasn't very sensitive.

Think they trying to just cut corners by using LED's, which seriously sucks. Anyways, I've got an ipod, so I'd go with the 702. Tried using my phone as an mp3 player at the gym, it just didn't feel right!

C905 its a slider but full house.
Im not a fan of the SE C-series. The C702 has a crappy cam and the navigation is pretty average.

yeah but the main reason why i like the w's is the handsfree...

the cybershots speaker is up to shyte, it peaks on full volume and clips on any loud voice/bass/anything wich the w910 doesnt do... the w910 is slim...its good lookin, but my mom dropped hers once and all the pocket dust and buildup ended up between the screen and the cover wich is a no no for me...

ill actually eat anyones **** if i could get a c905 that thing is bloody awesome, but not even abailable yet locally... or so says hazel at 4u

Been around since Dec, im waiting for the price drop in Feb if there is a price drop.

lets see what happens im due on 15 march, if there is a price drop ill get that one, but im not gonna pay in more than a grand im sorry, its a phone

cant spend more than a grand on that... thx

well thats good to know, whats retail at vodashop on those atm?if u do know?

If you want something new perhaps try the Nokia 5800. Sure it has many shortcomings but for below R3k you are not gonna get another touchscreen phone what value as good as that.

The problem with SE phones is there stupid proprietary memory format, not so awesome native OS, small sized screens and also their "water damage" indicator that will be used as excuse if something goes wrong on the phone and it needs to go in for repairs.

If you do not want a touchscreen then the N79 might be a good buy. After all, it is pretty strong : http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_reveals_phone_testing_routine-news-686.php

im in the 5-6k range... and why i fancy the se, i never once had to send it back to vodacom...or se or anywhere....

Time is drawing closer and i need your opinions once again, there shall be one more update before upgrade time on the 15th of March.

What is actually the Dif between N82/N82 Speaking Phone?

THats my one option, i love the 3.5 audio jack and gps+2gb memory card+hsdpa

option2: w890 its a sony, downside is the flip. love the 8gb shared memory and hsdpa again. poor camera and now gps.(plus a R199 pay in :( ]

the the HTC s740 seems to be in a whole new ballpark as the s710? Uprated processor, gps included, hsdpa 7.2 no icluded memory and still on the crappy winmobile ... pff....

I read as much as i can on all these members of my list, but in the end there will only be one true guide to my buy and this is YOUR experiences with these phones.

My main concern being

Batterylife on the nokia+htc will be poor

clarity and userability/frienlyness will be poor on the htc

Nokia will be the most user friendly no doubt. Easiest Connecting , etc, but i got used to this HTC now?

Does anyone in stores or so have a idea if there will be a pricedrop on the S740 Before next month? I dont really wanna pay in more that R500 on a top up 315s to get my new phone. as i am a poor bloke. If anybody got any Ideas or know of anywhere where i can upgrade and get the HTC post it. Else vote here, what is your guys opionion...

Should I consider th C902 at all>?

Thx,

There is only one N82 - I have no idea what marketeer told you of a "N82 Speaking Phone".

With the N82 there is much more to love than just that, it has the best camera on a Nokia phone (with a real flash) mine has a 16GB memory card, it is very strong, wifi performance is amazing. 3D co-processor allows you to play even Quake 3 on the N82. I can go on.... :-)

SE uses stupid memory formats like their own Memory Strick - and they have a thing inside that is red or pink that technicians use as excuse to indicate water damage.

Any phone you have you can charge while you sleep, unless you make calls while you sleep so one day is enough. My N82 sees heavy use and it makes it through the day fine.

Symbian is a lot faster than WinMo and HTC build quality is questionable.

The N82 Speaking phone is made for blind people.

Theres a C905, maybe you can consider that over the C902

All phones have the litmus paper for water damage.

Downsides, I read the Reviews on this Device.

Claimed GPS performance is poor.
Keys are a bit clumsy and hard to type without lookin at the keypad.

I know it probably aint nothing to go by but i had a N70 once and

that kinda put me off of the nseries phones.

I want the C905 but at a R1500 Pay in its a bit steep for now. Unless i wait for the next pricedrop... if there will still be stock in the country by then.

The N82 is a huge improvement over the N73 (which was crap) and I think probably the N70 was more crap.
