How long did your upgrade take ?
Did you have any downtime on data and voice?

Going from 10 to 20mbit and now in 2nd day of voice and data being down since order was placed with Telkom. :(

I'm trying to upgrade my line from 4mb to 10mb and it's taking forever. Placed the order for upgrade last Thursday. Still no update. I've dropped TelkomZA a messages too but still no luck.

Weird, I did my 10mb - 20mb adsl upgrade all via TelkomZA.

Before we did anything he first tested to see if my exchange supports it and whether i'd be able to sync at that speeds since I'm roughly 1.9km away from the exchange. That took about a day.

Next morning I said lets go ahead, 30 minutes later my upgrade was finished.

My line is still up.

TelkomZA did get back to me earlier this week saying that he will try and action it. I've sent a follow up message yesterday but have not received any feedback yet. I also called the call centre earlier today but they were not able to give me any proper update.

Can someone confirm if the ADSL checker shows VDSL vs ADSL+ - i.e. mine says "20Mbps (Copper)" does this mean it is VDSL or just ADSL+. The Telkom consultant could not explain this to me.

If you are on VDSL, could you perhaps just run your number through the ADSL checker and post if it is different to mine: http://www2.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/check.htm

Mine said 40mbit copper available.
Asked for 20mbit ADSL and then all went dead next morning.
Now 1,5 days no data or voice

I just initiated the upgrade to 20MB VDSL - this was a very pleasant and speedy experience with Telkom - it took less than 5 minutes to get the upgrade initiated and was told now it can take up to 72 hours. Can someone explain what this actually means - i.e. is this a software configuration or does an engineer have to repatch my line to another port/MSAN etc?

Phone call for me was quick and easy.
Was told 72hours aswell.
Was on 20mbit ADSL2+ by the evening after the call.
Next morning everything went dead

Found out im being switched to a new MSAN so line can be converted to VDSL instead of ADSL2+ and this should be done by end of the week.

So almost 2 weeks, but its due to the switch from IMAX to MSAN

Others already on DSLAMs get upgraded within a day or so

Super impressed - just received feedback that my line is now VDSL - was not even a business day. Loadshedding permitting, I might actually be able to leave the office and reconfigure my modem at home to use VDSL instead.

Big up to TelkomZA for getting my lines fixed and putting me onto VDSL from ADSL2+

:D:D:D

And ???? Don't leave us hanging on the line! :D

I have been struggling for two weeks to get my line upgraded from 2 to 10mbs.They seem to have upgraded it to 4mbs but cant seem to upgrade it to 10mbs even though exchange shows supports 20mbs which my neighbour has .I have had so many diffeent answers from the call centre it is a joke.If I dont get clarity tommorrow I am going to escalate as per their own service agreement(ends up with ceo according to their terms).
Gosh cant wait to never have to use helkom again. They all work in silos
