UPGRADED NOVATEL Firmware - now Problematic!

I know of only one failure during an upgrade and suspect the user did not wait the recommended time period, it does take a while. The card was replaced free of charge.

If you can, take it in, if you can't, I'm pretty sure you're not going to break it.

If Vodacom did not want you to upgrade your own card, why publish the data on an open vodacom server....:)

K, sorry for sounding like the newb here...

But what exactly is firmware? I just installed V 5.0 VMC. What version of firmware comes with that? Do I need to upgrade my firmware version or not?

Answer would be nice.

Thanks

Firmware is an upgrade for your 3g pc card and not the software you install on your pc.Now i would always try get the latest firmware and software installed because there are allways improvements.

You can get 14.2 here: http://196.36.120.27/vmcc/

Still trying to get it uploaded to 4me....use the above link in the mean-time.

Well, let's hope Vodacom don't decide to pull V14.2 from their site cos I see that the above link is no longer available :(

Anyway, thanks again to the guys at http://www.harc.org.za for making it available while we all waited for Vodacom to update their site. We may need to call on you again in the future.

Can someone please run me threw the updating of my firmware please (V12 - V14.2).

It's hard to believe that it can be such a fragile procedure. I downloaded the install file. What more is there to do that double click on it?

Feedback appreciated.
Thanks

Follow the instructions after you clicked :)

But remember:

1) Take the SIM out of the card.
2) Make sure the VMC dashboard is closed and not running in the background. Use the task manager to check for vmconnect, if needed.
3) Run the install
4) WAIT till it finishes.

Done! :)

Nope. It came up with a message "Could not erase Flash"( after several minutes) and then nothing further. Definitely died.
