Upgrading from a P20 Pro

So I'm due for an upgrade in mid-Jan after having my P20 Pro for almost 2 years.

After owning and enjoying the P20 Pro I thought the obvious next step would be Huawei's next flagship however, as we well know, the future of Android/Google Play access isnt looking too rosy at the moment (and the workarounds to this not very effective)

What should I do?
1) Wait until the contract is up and reassess the options at that time? Should be around March.
2) Consider something else out there at the moment (regardless of brand) available on contract? I don't feel that the P30 Pro is a significant enough upgrade to justify switching.
3) Let my contract lapse and buy a phone not available on contract for cash?

Had definitely considered this, however the missus' phone is on its last legs so I had promised her the P20 Pro as a replacement.

Wait for the P40 Pro to be released, then get the P30 pro for cheap...

1. Go for the S11e or Vanilla S11

When exactly is the contract ending, because above is probably best bet. Otherwise pick a budget.

Thanks for the input all. I've decided to hold off until the end of the contract and re-assess options then (mid-March)
