i have a laptop with a hd5470 graphics card in, is there a way to change to a better card?

Short answer: Nope.
Longish answer: Highly unfeasable, and depending on certain laptop models that use mxm modules.

Probably not. Very few laptops have modular GPU's, most are soldered directly to the motherboard.

^^^ What they have said already. It would probably be an idea to list the exact make and model of your laptop tho'.

its a packard bell easynote tm87. its my office laptop and kinda getting bored there so want to play some games

I saw mod once where someone got a PCI-Express graphics card connected to a laptop via its Express port. The card needed a separate power supply but it worked. Here's a link:

A more recent version of this I saw was a graphics card that was hooked up via a Thunderbolt interface. Also worked great but very expensive and only was for Thunderbolt equipped laptops and desktops. Here's a link:

Upgrading anything on a laptop is very time consuming and frustrating, excluding RAM and HDD's.

I upgraded my previous HP laptop's CPU from a Celeron to a Core 2 Duo.

Graphics is another story though, the GFX unit is usually soldered onto the motherboard like ponder mentioned.
