Upgrading LG tv firmware

Hi guys,
I have an Lg 32" tv (32LD460) which has a built in USB media player. It plays avi files well but struggles with certain HD mkv files (only picture plays, no sound).

I want to upgrade the fw but the only fw available is on the US Lg site and not the SA site.

I am hoping the fw will fix the problem with mkv files.

Has anyone else ever updated their Lg tv fw before?
Would there be a difference in downloading it from US site if model number matches precisely?

Will appreciate any help/guidance.
 
You must also find out that if you use another countries firmware if it will void your warren-tee on the TV in South Africa, In the upgrade guide it states that you must upgrade to the firmware that matches the make/model number exactly so if it matches exactly I don't think there should be a problem upgrading with the US firmware.
 
I have the same TV as op and mine just stoped playing movies via USB last night. It used to work perfect but since lasy night it doesnt seem to read the movies on the drive.

Im busy downloading the firmware now.
 
Our TV's is on PAL, right... and US on NTSC, right? With this in mind and knowing that some DVD's is region specific (region coded), do you think it will still work?

You can also take your tv to executronix in Edenvale. LG will upgrade it for you but u need to leave the tv there.

My exact model number is 32LD460-AFB. The only one supported by fw on LG NZ site is 32LD460-TA.

Going to wait for Easter vacation to take it in. Will have to leave it there for a few days so best to take it in when it won't be used :D.

It only matters if you play an actual DVD, not a media file from a USB stick that has been ripped.
 
Found the issue in my tv not playing videos...... Wasnt the firmware. It was the ****ing flash drive. Brand new kingston flash. Tried my old no name brand and it works perfectly
 
Hi, I know this thread is a bit old but I wanted to upgrade the firmware on my LG 32LD460 TV. The reason being that it's only 3 months out of it's one year warranty and it's developed a thin red vertical line on the right hand quarter of the screen. I suspect that it's the actual LCD display that's going on it but as LG are not interested in helping me, even though at the time it was only two months out of warranty when the problem first cropped up, I thought 'what the hell' it might improve things somehow by updating the firmware, after all, I didn't have anything to lose.
I downloaded the firmware update from the LG site, even though it was the Australian LG site, and put it on a flash drive. I plugged the flash drive into the USB port on the TV and it detected the new firmware and asked if I wanted to up grade. I clicked 'yes' and after a couple of minutes the TV restarted as normal. Unfortunately this hasn't sorted the red line on the screen out but in case anyone else is wanting to upgrade their firmware on an SA LG TV then the Australian site's firmware will work.
Oh, one side effect is that I can now play some video formats that I couldn't before from my external drive, so I guess the firmware update improved the types of file formats that the TV will play.
