Does anyone know if the HP Pavilion DV6 is the same as the US DV6t model?

My specs from SA bought DV6 1150EA (NQ496EA)are
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
ATI Radeon HD 4530 512Mb dedicated

I see on the US HP site in the build options of the DV6t that these processor options are available

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P7550 (2.26GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8800 (2.66 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9900 (3.06 GHz, 6 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

and also the ATI Radeon 4650 1GB dedicated - which research looks like its a far better card.

Would it be a fair assumption that these are interchangable with what i have?
Motherboard is a Quanta 3628,CPU socket 478.
Anyone here know?

I've upgraded a HP nc6110 from a Celeron M to Pentium M, and a HP 530 from the same to a Core 2 Duo, so it should be possible...

At least with Acer laptops you get a manual stating what model cpu's are supported by the board in the lappie...

But whereabouts can you get a laptop cpu?

I got a broken laptop with a turion cpu in. Im thinking about buying a laptop with a Amd Neo cpu. Can i replace the neo with the turion cpu?
Do the work on the same motherboards?

Ok made some headway,Seems to be very comprehensive list of what differant hardware you can use, how to pull it apart, part no's etc in HP's Maintenance and Service Guide.
For mine processor no drama up to Intel Core2 Duo T9900 3.06-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB
but looks like Graphics is system board replacement & would need to look into that one more.
PDF guide of my model DV6 here if anyones interested

If any MyBB members interested in a week old HP Pavilion DV6 1150ei i'll let it go for R11.
There R13k at Inc Conn + i paid R11700 from Comx/LaptopDirect last week.....Have all boxes and unit is in A1 new condition, hasn't left the house.
Only reason for selling is i'd rather grab the same model but with differant spec's.My other laptop got damaged & i did'nt have good access to research properly before i purchased this one.
Works fine for everything but i'd like something a little better for the odd game.

I assume there's supposed to be a "k" after the R11.

If not then, yes, I'll take it for R11. :D

Well i ordered a new mobo yesterday which has the Radeon 4650 1GB GPU on it.
Will see how things perform with this P7450 2.13GHz processor 1st before i bother changing it.
Pretty sure i'll end up swapping it out eventually tho seen as i can get into 3.0Ghz range with a "T" series....Research looks like it might be a cooler option to stick with a "P" series tho (25w vrs 35w)

SA seems miles behind on Pavilion series choices and i'll never buy one here again. What i have here is the highest spec DV6 (apart from the artist version which is AMD (toaster)processor tho)
I should have just imported this and not be doing what i'm doing now

Does anyone know anywhere in SA that sell Laptop processors?

tell me more. was that after you had bought it?

Most info for compatible changes is in HP Service and Maintaince Guide for your particular model/series.
Show's you how to take apart all of it + part no's etc.
More homework required if the processor isn't listed tho for compatability, also beware it sounds like HP messes with bios so you can't just put anything in place...there is a bios modding network about tho.
That's kinda what i've learnt about them so far anyway.

For the HP 530 it's a 3MB PDF file here
