Im looking for a company who I can use to upload a 8GB file via FTP. I just need it once off and will pay accordingly. Does anyone know if a company of that nature even exists. If so, who?

Yeah, its mainly just our line is very slow. Only a 4mb line. Would be ideal to find a company with a 10mb line who we can just pay a fee for using it. We can even bring our own laptops.

Hhhmm, home DSL users are always gonna be limited to 512kbps upload limit. Even on a 10Mbps line :( A quicker way would be to run a seedbox type environment, but you'd need a seedbox for that though.

How would the "company" get the 8GB file is the first place? Where are you based?

Sorry about not clarifying. We're based in Cape Town. Preferably need a Cape Town based company but can courier up to Durban or Joburg. Our client is in Abu Dhabi.

I would recommend splitting the file for the upload process and then combining it if you have any access or communication with those that do on the other side.

This. 8gb file is just going to be a pain. Get winrar & use that to split it into 200mb chunks. Then grab quickpar to create par files @ 10% and a .sfv file. Then upload the 200mb chunks to where ever and email the .sfv for integrity checks.

The 200mb chunks can be uploaded simultaneously on multiple 4mb lines. One of the ISPs even provides free upload (openweb I think).

It'll work out cheaper than using a company, but it could be a bit more hassle. If you don't do the above, then at least do the checksum part (.sfv).

Go to a friend who studies at a University and use their connection to upload the contents after hours.

I've seen a few people who managed to upload at ~80mbps speeds from the Stellenbosch University's residence network: eg.

At Stellenbosch University it will cost you less than R100 if you upload the contents between 02:00 and 08:00.
