UPS making funny 'peow' noise

Okay, here is the scenario;

We have 2 UPS' for our servers.
They are both the same models, PCM (Powercom) 1000VA.

The 1 UPS is making this noise every few minutes.
Yesterday, it was exactly every 8 minutes, today, it's completely random.

It's not a normal noise / beep that you would expect to hear from a UPS.

It's like a ... I dunno how to explain it, the sound sounds like a deflection (like you shoot something and it richochets off it - PEOW! type sound (laugh...!!) :)

What do you guys think?

They are both not running hotter than normal
I've even smelt them and they not both giving off any smells.

Should I be worried?
Should I disconnect the problem UPS?

Suggestions, thoughts, trouble shooting ideas, comments etc are welcome please.
 
LMAO. Sorry, but I keep thinking that your UPS is shooting a toy gun PEOW PEOW PEOW PEOW :D:D

Is it maybe overloaded temporarily with excessive traffic to the server?

Other than that I would say discharge the batteries completely and charge them up again.

Maybe... but why is it doing it now?
It has been the same setup for yonks.

I'm also thinking, why is it not beeping properly, why does it sound like the noise is coming from the inside, maybe from one of the caps.

Could be, maybe call the manufacturer?

I took these after I installed the UPS software.
 
If anything, I'd give a guess at, they are almost a year old.

What do you exactly mean by serviced?

It just made the noise again, it's doing it randomly today, not going off every 8 minutes like yesterday.
 
We use a lot of Powerware 9110 UPS's on ships and try to get them serviced every year by UPS Technologies in Pinelands. Basically they will check the batteries and replace if necessary. They will also check the invertor and charging circuits etc.
Unfortunately UPS's are not maintenance free (something they neglect to tell you) as they usually run 24/7.
I would have them serviced, or replaced, depending on how much you paid for them. Also check to see if they are not under warranty. Either way, disconnect them before the "PEOW's" turn into "KABAM's"

Have you got a model number?

replace the batteries or leave the UPS connected to the power without a load and switch of the UPS to charge the batteries, if that does not help then replace the batteries
