Hello Guys

Please let me know what spec UPS I would need to power 12 analogue cameras and a DVR for 45 mins after
power failure.This includes recording.

Thanks
DD

What is the rated power (in Watt or W) for each of the cameras and for the DVR? If there is no power rating, at least give the voltage and current consumption of each device.

I would guess that an 750VA/400W UPS would do the trick, however, you'll need one that can take lots of external batteries OR you'll need to buy like a 5kVA unit that has the same amount of batteries.

^^ I'm just guessing here that a camera uses like 25W (12V @ 2A) and the DVR (220V @ 0.2A) about 50W.

So like AntennaMan said, first find out the power consumption figures of your equipment, which is either specified in Watt or a Volt+Amp combined rating.
Then the next step is to look at UPS specification sheet (which has curve diagrams) where they show how long the UPS' batteries will last at a certain load. You'll most likely be cheaper off buying a smaller, but sufficient power, UPS that can take external batteries.

If DVR has DC backup power, DC-DC converter will be much more efficient than typical DC/AC UPS, it will backup longer on the same battery.
I saw in this section links to very nice DC-DC converter with full UPS functionality for working with external lead-acid battery (MeanWell?).
