UPS Suggestions

Sorry I know this ya been asked so many times but any suggestions on a UPS that will power a tv and DStv decoder for the 2-2.5hours of load shedding.

My sister in law asked me now as they don’t have smart device so still use DStv.

Is there something out there that can work or are those the “batteries” that cost R10k?
 
Yup i think so, i quote from the website there:
How long will it last?

Medium TV + Decoder for 2-3 Hours
Regular PC with LCD Monitor for 4-5 Hours
 
Worse case scenario get another battery of the EXACT same amp/hour rating and add it to the system to double your time and you will be punishing your batteries less.
No battery enjoys going flat often
 
Ok great thanks I will send them this.

Stupid question but once power back on do they just plug in to charge again and wait for next round of load shedding?

In all fairness if you do not check the MyBB forum often you will be lost with current affairs regarding UPS's/Power Banks/Going Off Grid/Load shedding/Modding UPS's etc etc that gets mentioned here, there are a gazillion threads on this subject and if you try hitting the Search button to find an answer it just opens a massive can of worms and it will take hrs and hrs sifting through all the comments and stuff :)

Probably true. Need a sticky thread maybe that just cover the basic questions.

I obviously searched first but on phone and wasn’t winning at all.

That would be cool or even cooler is a Fact Finding site whereby a Mod here will take all topics and conversations and do some editing and cut out all the nonsense Tsek comments and crap that i post (as well as a few others) put it on a new website for people that want an answer NOW.
Almost like Quora or Wiki but even cooler as those sites do not cover real RSA issues like loadshedding and modding UPS's etc :laugh::ROFL:
Spam the website full of adverts and all and voila everyone is happy, website makes money and people looking for answers get the answer NOW !

The rest of us here on MyBB can carry on bantering and kak gesels and be the guinea pigs for the next Thread :) LOL
