Ups

I have 1x 1000, 7x 700 and 2x 500 UPS's powering my 3 PC's, monitors, ADSL router and a few other PC bits (scanner, printer, camera, etc) -- if idle, they can last up to 50 mins, and about 15-20 mins when in use. Prices ranged between R299 and R599, depending on the model.

Will be getting a 6.5kVa silent (49db) diesel generator next month to power my basics at home when the power goes off... can't stand being without my PC/laptop...

OK, lol i forgot about some people that run 3 pc's for home use :o

It will be for 1 pc 2 x screens (but only one is necessary really for the ups part) my router and NAS.
 
If u're running a gaming rig then get a 1000, otherwise the 800 shud be fine for average home PC.
 
Inverex make a good UPS, They are genarally for the longer lasting type. You can pick one up from here (sorry long url..)
 
That shud work fine, but the price is out. I paid R999 for my Mecer 1000vA (a month ago), shop around online and u'll probably get it cheaper.
 
OK, i got the Proline UPSC1000 (features an LCD screen) but the noise levels is way too loud. I got a silent PC and now i need to listen to this uneven noise. Is there anything in the 700VA to 1000VA range that i can get that is fanless or noise levels below say 20dB?
 
I didn't think UPS's had fans? My 700va and 1000va models are totally silent and also run very cool - I think they were ULG-700 and ULG1000 models - can get from my supplier at R512 and R569 incl. - can check stock for you if needed...

im just gonna check tomorrow on their returns policy (hopefully not too large handling fee) but i can't use it with that noise.

I will probably go for the ULG1000. I will let you know tomorrow.
 
I know how you feel 'bout the noise... my 1000vA is like 3 x louder than my gaming rig! The unit really does not need such a powerful fan, working on a plan to sort that out tho...
