So who else is feeling the drag? Love the game but hitting t4 for the second/third? time, the grind slows down so much and aprticularly as a healer it stops being fun.

I played around with a choppa on the test server and it looks like I'll be rolling one when they go live, but i suppose once i tire of him, I think I'll lapse my sub. WAR is, simpyl speaking... missing something. I'm not sure what it is, but after 6 months and many, many alts, i jsut havent found whatever it is I'm looking for in an mmorpg.

RIP WAR?

My highest level toon is a 37 WP and I have 2 lvl 23 alts (including a BW that I only play with 2 RL friends' SM and RP which is fun as a group all the time). I'm not bored yet. Actually loving healing at T4. How many lvl 40s you got Skurm?

Side questions:
Do you actually war against other humans a lot?
If so, is the way that you war against them boring?
Is there perhaps something missing insofar as the available war tactics is concerned?

Hmm yep, i actually re-activated my AoC sub this weekend. I can say i've "been there, done that" in WAR. Got my lvl 40 toon, and have 3 others in the lvl 30+ range [T4] ....and well i've been less and less enthusiastic about playing WAR. My first toon i definitely pushed through to 40 for the sake of pushing through, but it wasn't exactly fun in T4, now with my alts i can't seem to muster the energy to do it again...especially when i know there's not much going on at the top.

Pretty much the feeling i eventually got with WoW as well. So i don't think the game is bad, but i think WAR's content has a 3-6 months lifespan..that's it. The incoming content will only be in it's full swing round about June/July, which is only ok if you started playing now...if you've been in WAR since launch, you might feel obligated to take a break.

1. WAR is all about "war against other humans/players" ...i assume you're referring to players...so yea it's almost all you do at the end.

2. Yep it does become boring, the incentives to continiously fighting the same players , taking the exact same objectives/keeps has it's limits. You simply can't do it very long without variation...and sadly the variation in WAR's RvR system is non-existent.

3. Yep, all of it. The only tactic that always works : Zerg . There's no compelling reason not to zerg, or even split up to attack from multiple fronts.

Yeah zerging is pretty much the only "strategy" I've seen in open RVR. Maybe other strats would be viable with a 24 man guild warband all on ventrilo, but so far I've not seen this in action.

I play a lot of scenarios in a 3 man team that is quite well coordinated and we tend to do pretty well. So at least coordination, if not tactics, counts for something.

Yea I agree with this whole Zerging trend, just not as much fun as smaller organised, tactical skirmishes. What they need to introduce is a way for smaller very organised and skilled groups to take on larger zergs strictlty through superior teamwork. This was accomplished In Daoc through Imba CC and some powerfull Aoe abilities, personally I don't want crazy Crowd control in this game but if they can achieve it through some other means then this game would be great.

I have an abandoned 40 IB. Haven't yet really ground a second 40, the shaman looked promising but healbotting got boring. Got a bunch of tier2/3 alts though, from BW to WE.

diab's points 1 through 3 are spot on. Fact is WAR doesn't really have longevity. Once you've been there, done that, got the t-shirt, there's little reason to do it again, maybe because gear isn't really all that important, and even if it were there just isn't much variety or amount of content.

Just one example is the crafting, which is really boring and bad. The game was clearly made to be instantly accessible, and that great for the short term, but a lousy strategy for holding onto subscribers for the long haul.

Even so, considering my alternatives, it's WAR or WoW. And you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming abck to Azeroth, tyvm. So I'm stubbornly holding out for the Call to Arms expansion, gonna be playing around with the new classes in March/April, and see how things look by June, at which time Champions Online should hit the shelves.

I dont actually have a level 40 yet, mainly due to the fact that its taken 3 server moves to find a decent population - my Shammy is mid T4. I also find it difficult to find the urge to play because the game gets very repetative if played for long periods of time. Its fine for an hour or twos' fix but at the level i'm at PQ's are empty so its just grinding, scenareos you can only take so much of (esp if you fall victim to pre-made opposing side) and orvr is the BO, Keep - rinse and repeat.

This said, I have been enjoying the recent changes in 1.2 the new event and orvr changes. I have also started playing a new Order char and there are loads of lowbies to play with, I think mainly because of the 10-day trial.

I can not imagine myself playing another mmo other than WAR at the moment simply because it really can be fun and you can get the fun within 5 mins of logging in. I know of quite a few WOW players (I got bored of WOW after a few months) and have been wondering what makes them keep playing ... for years. It seems to me that most WOW players love collecting gear and doing dungeon raids slaying big bosses which is mainly PVE based. Maybe Mythic should consider putting more emphasis on PVE and item content as I think the PVP is pretty much as good as its going to get.

Not to be snarky? But you think, and I quote, "BO, Keep - rinse and repeat", is as good as its going to get?

That's horrible.

Maybe try Darkfall or something different if that's your opinion.
