URGENT... Vista or XP

If I had to advise someone about which Microsoft OS to buy (XP or Vista), I'd definitely recommend Vista. It is improving with every update and as people upgrade all the performance complaints from non-gamers will disappear. As for gamers, anyone who feels the need to overclock a quad core will never be happy with any level of performance :)

The excitement of playing COH in DX10 is killing me.. I want frizly grass!!

Will my E6750 run 64-bit nicely? n00bish question :/

Whats this driver extortion you speak of?
With XP, manufacturers could load uncertified drivers. With Vista, you can't load uncertified drivers without tricks+hacks. Consumers don't like tricks+hacks so the manufacturers need to get the stuff certified. Microsoft is more than willing to do that...for a small fee. Every time you bring out a new set of drivers, you need to get the x64 version and the x86 version certified & get verizon signatures etc.

If you check how many drivers there are on the asus site for example...then this can cost a decent amount of $$$. And twice that when the next windows comes out.

I know its meant to/does ensure better security...but jeez it doubles as a nice money making scheme too.

I reckon that is *one* of the reason why nvidia & ati like their all-in-one driver packs so much.

High requirements does not make an OS imperfect
It does if all you get for it is eye-candy.

I prefer that because it means your drivers will always work, sure it costs money but atleast it ensures the OS does not BSOD because of kuk drivers.

For eye candy all you need is a decent vga card, nothing to hectic.

Its simple if you give vista a good system its a perfect OS, much better than xp :), atleast i think.

I cannot stand working on xp now.

I would go for vista 64.

Just make sure you use up to date hardware and software and you have no issues.

99% of my software/games run fine on vista 64 bit and some like the witcher runs better than on xp or vista 32bit.

Games with issues for me are sacred and the latest leasure suit larry game(the older ones run fine but the new can't start).
