Urgently required - blu-ray writer

Thanks for trying to help, Juggy. I've almost made up my mind to wait for prices to drop though, it's a lot of money for a device I'm not sure I'm going to use all that often.

Cool, if you really want it you could always transfer the cash into their account, I could pick it up and send it to you express mail which is about R100.

Another thought is if you bought it you could sell it immediately for 60% of the value if you weren't going to use it again.

Also, why not just stick everything on an HDD and send it or does it need to be on BluRay?

Another thought is it would probably be cheaper renting a hosted server and plugging the disk in that has the data and letting them download it.

I'm available if you want to take the purchase option. I'll check the availability of stock today and let you know. (If they're open)

Thanks Juggy, you're making it realy difficult for me to save money ;) (kidding)

I am leaning towards shipping a HDD across at the moment - its roughly 200GB.

Shipping the disk would be easiest by far. 250GB disk is less than R500 plus these days they don't get damaged all that easily.
 
What a difference a month makes....
This LG drive (the internal one) now retails for RK2, vat included. A month ago the best price I could find was R2673 (vat incl) - and that was distributor price!

Blank media prices are still ridiculous though.

Wait a couple of months, they'll be under R1,000.
I bought my first DVD writer in the beginning of 2004 for R1600, Bought another one at the end of 2004 for around R800.
It's amazing how quickly prices change on new technology.

Bought my first CD-RW/R drive from HP back in 2000 for R1400.
 
@Juggy & PeterCH: Thanks for the offer and alert, but I have put the purchase off indefinitely. Buying media would bankrupt me... :(
