Crowdstrike CEO to appear before US Congress

A US House committee called on the chief executive officer of CrowdStrike to testify on a defective software update that caused widespread global outages.

The House Committee on Homeland Security requested the appearance of CEO George Kurtz, and it asked CrowdStrike to promptly schedule a date.

they arent wrong, after all CS was thought of as safe, and now I dont think many will agree anymore.
trust is hard earned, but lost in an instant with a disaster like this.

CrowdStrike should ask government to invest (if they havent).
If their position is so important, it should be paid as such xD
Nice egg basket

they deserve to know in detail how this incident happened and the mitigation steps CrowdStrike is taking,

And the US congress will understand how software like this operates on the OS level?

Last time I checked they were embarrassingly arrogant with anything related to the tech industry.

For what?

Sheeet happens
it does, but when something that happens that shouldn't happen, people start asking for accountability and answers,
and without this, people will continue installing software that isnt as safe as people believed.

Nothing will happen. US congress just likes to hear themselves speak.

And people will continue installing kak software.

I guess they got the "Strike" part right...

Lets hear your recommendations for "good" software.
Not sure why my recommendations are needed but sure.

Internet download manager - Works lekker to download stuff on the internet.
Windows 11, even if it irks me the wrong way, it is the main OS everyone use.
Any new office packet from MS. Helps if you can work on Excel and Word.
Steam if you are playing games. Maybe even GOG Galaxy for their games too.
Klite so you can watch and hear all different audio/video.
Big fan of Opera GX.

Then not sure of everyone elses needs, AnyDVD and Unifi.

MacOS Apple fixed this 4 years ago already...
This year, Apple announced a major overhaul of macOS calling it “the biggest update to design in more than a decade.” The version number jumped from macOS 10.x to 11.0, and it touches every element of the operating system (OS) including how system software will be developed for Big Sur and beyond. Most importantly for security vendors, Apple announced the deprecation of kernel extensions (kexts) for Catalina and re-enforced it in Big Sur.

As soon as kext deprecation was announced, CrowdStrike began the work of re-architecting the CrowdStrike Falcon® agent and migrating many of our kext-dependent capabilities to the new user-space security framework provided by Apple, paving the way for us to support the Big Sur release with Falcon. Regardless of which versions of macOS your enterprise has deployed, the CrowdStrike Falcon® platform delivers full-feature parity and the comprehensive protection our customers depend on — and with no additional impact on performance.

Why did Crowdstrike not do the same on Windows? There was nothing stopping them.

The actual answer is that the Falcon agent is nothing more than a placebo.

maybe so, but a congressional hearing isnt exactly a place shareholders in the company want to see their CEO,
I expect resignations/firings and maybe some shake ups to happen.
