I agree. I didn't put Mogoeng as comparison as Amy is not in same league as him. She seems closer to PP in terms of relation with the powers-that-be, inexperience etc.

It works both ways.

People can have liberal progressive ideas, without being far left Stalinists praying for Communism every day.

Yet, mostly due to the Rooi Gevaar indoctrination we all got way back when, South African's go ballistic as soon as they see a marginal sign of anyone supporting any concept of social welfare.
Concepts which are being well executed in many successful, capitalist economies in Europe, but woe betide you signal acceptance of such values, you are a Communist calling for everyone to go to the gulags.

Unfortunately liberal progressive ideas tend not be compatible with democratic debate, for a variety of reasons.

First is censorship, as liberal progressives do not like people saying things that they don't want to hear. A recent example of this is Facebook and Twitter censoring the story of Biden's son, but there are countless other stories of academics having their talks shut down. Jordan Peterson is a notable example of this.

Simply put - liberal progressives are not tolerant of discussing other ideas. If you voice an opinion contrary to what a liberal progressive believes, they try to shut you down.

Second, a lot of liberal progressives these days actually advocate full on communism. Not all, but a significant percentage. They talk about the fall of capitalism, for one. Now, I should remind you that capitalism with a little socialism mixed in to support people is fine by me, but that's not what these progressives are talking about. They are talking about dismantling the capitalist system entirely.

Now, whether they are right or wrong is one thing, but again, the problem with this is that you do not and cannot have communist democracy. You have communism, or you have democracy, but not both.

So yeah, while I have little patience for out and out racism which the right does sometimes exhibit, I have absolutely no patience for the desire to shut down debate, like progressives exhibit.
