It is one thing to point out a statistic that indicates that Trump is supported by white men. That is reality.
It is another thing to use that statistic to infer stuff you don't know about said population.

For example, the ANC is largely supported by black people.
The ANC is corrupt.
Therefore using your logic, those black people endorse corruption.


If you put Trump vs Hillary Clinton in front of me and told me to pick one, I would pick Trump.
If you put Trump vs Helen Zille in front of me and told me to pick one, I would pick Helen Zille.

All decisions are made on the margin of what people have in front of them, not by some global criteria. This is the concept behind marginal utility and if you bother to understand it, the world becomes a much easier place to understand.

Why, on holidays, are restaurants open but banks closed, when surely banking provides a more unique service to society and anyone can cook stuff at home anytime? The answer is that restaurants make higher profits on the margin on holidays, when people want to go out to eat, whereas the banks have discovered that their profit margins are best served by opening when people tend to do their banking, which is not on holidays.

In reality, people are most often choosing on the margin: avoiding a worst fate, holding their noses to guess at the least bad, doing what they feel they must do under the circumstances, or maybe expressing a temper tantrum over one which issue among a million – same as the rest of life. Politics chews up all these complications and spits them out as your new overlord, as if marginalism doesn’t matter.

Just so we're clear, 'cos we're irreconcilably on different sides of this and you might not be able to hear me way, way over there... If you lived in a world with Donnie in it, especially over the last three years, and you still vote for him you're:

Consenting to his bigotry
Consenting to his racism
And consenting to his sexism

But voting for him is worse than silence... It's affirmation. It's approval. It's blessing. It's licence.

The "country" isn't completely racist or sexist. The majority of the country voted for HRC and Obama. Just saying, it's a factor for a lot of people.
