It was clear Trump had replaced the accepted shorthand for the COVID-19 virus with another that would blame another country for the pandemic while inflaming antipathy against the “Chinese” and (because ethnic hatreds aren’t especially discerning) Asians in general.
And he’d done so quite deliberately.
This was a new development. Trump had previously referred to the pandemic as “the coronavirus.” So what changed? The answer is obvious: People familiar with Trump’s limited but effective toolbox will recognize by now that the turn to racism is a sign of Trumpian distress. It means that Trump—who hasn’t been able to hold rallies amid his adoring fans—is feeling not just insecure but trapped. He thought the coronavirus was one more narrative he could control. He couldn’t. And so, perhaps sometime around March 16, when he first used the phrase “Chinese Virus” on Twitter himself, it became clear that the president was ready to embrace an ugly construction Mike Pompeo and others had earlier tried to mainstream.

I think what's more amusing seeing seemingly intelligent watching an orange buffoon pointing to a cow, and telling them it's a bear. And seeing them nodding their heads in agreement.The 'hoax' line again, not even going to bother
Fact is, its doesn't matter what the orange baffoon says or doesn't say, does or doesn't do, people here like yourself, twittards, msm always flip to the opposite to argue it, for three years, always... its glorious watching it all, every word just triggers the outrage, if he said puppies are cute, you lot would lose it about him not including kittens and cnn would fact check and find some not so cute puppies to say hes lying to the public

Absolute nonsense. The Chinese government are an oppressive regime who have a total disregard for basic human rights, support vicious dictators and believe that might is right. When they take over stuff, we are all going to be in big schit. We will look upon the current times as the good old days.
Unfortunately, the current US government seems to be wanting to follow the same example. Supporting vicious dictators, and disregarding human rights seems to be the direction they are taking . But trying to tell them not to do that is apparently not allowed, saying there is anything wrong will get you skewered nowadays.
