US Election 2020

As of April 14, 2020, CDC case counts and death counts include both confirmed and probable cases and deaths. This change was made to reflect an interim COVID-19 position statement issued by the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists on April 5, 2020. The position statement included a case definition and made COVID-19 a nationally notifiable disease.

This is likely to result in a much increased death count (NYC already had 3000 more deaths added today because of this change), and will make Trump quite unhappy. I expect him to take some action against this change.
Contrary to the Orange Fuhrer's claims, testing is way behind, most don't have access to testing, so they do not have a real grasp of the "infected cases" number.

Private companies, such as Kroger, are stepping in to get more folks tested.

Beshear said the partnership with Kroger will allow 20,000 people around Kentucky to be tested for the coronavirus over the next five weeks, which approximately doubles the state's current testing capacity.

Its hilarious, looking at full thread, tweets from hospitals and staff with pics thanking him, all public domain going back weeks... htf did cnn manage to fark this up and not check anything... no doubt they'll try spin it somehow

Btw the problem they have in the US is exactly the same problem we have here.. ie there is an inherent assumption that the president is going to be a mature responsible adult who will not undermine themselves (well the country by implicit extension).

But this is a very bad assumption to make as people over the decades have become more self serving and with modern parenting, obscene wealth etc more often narcissist traits are normalized so this principle doesn’t really hold value in this modern age (ancient age was similar, also obscene wealth & inequality with leaders often narcissistic).

In the case of SA.. well it was a dumb one to make with a plethora of leaders looting.

How to fix it.. good luck. It requires the party to allow the change to happen and both in SA, US as well as almost every country under the sun.. political parties rarely “do the right thing” when it comes to limiting powers and putting in additional checks and balances. This ironically includes opposition parties.. we’ve seen examples here and US over the last decade.

Those pictures seem to have come from hospitals in New Jersey or do you have links to ones in California?

Apparently the Michigan Freedom Fund has links to the De Vos-es, or is the the De Vaii.

Anyway, some very fine people from the other side were there...

Confederate flags in... Michigan? Gee, wonder what that could be about...

Oh, and:

Kind of gives the game away, doesn't it?

Either Pelosi did something to trigger Trump, or he's looking for a new "enemy" to blame for his failures...

CNN was reporting what the governor said. Blame the governor for getting his facts wrong (if indeed his facts are wrong), not CNN.

Also:

Spokespersons for Tesla did not return CNN requests for comment.

If indeed the governor had his facts wrong, Tesla could have set the record straight before CNN published the story.

Its called fact checking... cnn likes fact checking... they should have checked the facts ;)

If they can access the webpage, they can order online (imagine the oppression of not going to home affairs )

And the bill is pretty generous...

That would cover just about everyone who legitimately doesn't have an ID.

So in other words, if you are a welfare recipient, you will be able to vote. But carry on crying hysteria.

They have to go to the offices (which are closed) to apply, it's on their website.

And you left out the part where they have to still go in-person to a polling place (if it hasn't been closed down by Republicans) and sign an affidavit with a raft of information, and include one of those documents. It's entirely unnecessarily onerous.

Always fun to watch people supposedly against bureaucracy and 'big government' twist themselves into pretzels defending it when it suits their purposes.

I agree with cerebus - if you want to implement something like this, then provide easy access to everyone by default.

And let's not forget, even that was a lie.

Imagine getting triggered by someone reporting what the governor's office said.

And ree'ing over CNN instead of yet more vaporware by Musk.

The Orangutanman is going to issue these reopening "guide lines" and his Rep governors will do what he wants, and it will spur the redneck MAGA's to revolt against the Dem governors, which has already started.
