US Election 2020

Eh, I feel this angle gets overdone a bit.

Other candidates than him getting support isn't the 'elites' rigging anything. Same as it wasn't 'rigged' in 2016.

And he isn't actually a Democrat (proudly), so bit odd to complain that the party won't use its infrastructure to support you when you claim to disdain them.

However, it is almost the case the Democratic establishment were leaning on Pete and Amy to pull out, but they couldn't make it too obvious so needed to actually wait for Biden to win a state. Amy has good potential as a VP pick though.

No one loves socialism more than old Americans, though. :p

Yeah but you can't call it that :D. I do remember though that in highly Republican states when economic issues are put to a referendum, they do seem to choose the more left-wing option (e.g
Min wages). I suspect a fair proportion of Trump voters are economically left-wing as well.

Yeah, Amy and Pete would be good Veep picks, I think.

Nothing particularly strange about the 'establishment' (spooky-sounding code word for ordinary officials, party members and politicians) leaning on candidates to do one thing or another. And if they both consider Bernie's platform to be potentially damaging then they didn't necessarily require a lot of leaning on.

It precedes Trump, though. Things like Medicare and Social Security have always been popular in red states.

Its not overdone, its more than obvious when you look at the rubbish coming out of the media alone.

Also this is the same Bernie that campaigned for Hillary non stop in 2016? Yeah so odd to complain they wont support him now.

Holy Balls finally some genuine insight and honesty about reality. I appreciate that.

It really is all about messaging. Like you say most Trump supporters and all Americans are very much in favour of heavy government intervention if you ask them in sneaky ways. But as soon as you call it what it is and use the triggering words... "Der toook ur jerbs!"

Americans can be very derp sometimes.

Eh, that's a bit reductionist. I agree there's a general resistance to him from corporate media houses, but even MSNBC has had multiple positive stories for him by Chris Hayes.

But the 'DNC elites' have done virtually nothing to actually consolidate the most obvious anti-Bernie candidate. Biden is lacking in fundraising - they haven't done much to get big donors to support him.

And look at the Democratic candidates that have dropped out - did the 'DNC elites' rig it against them, too?

Yeah, totally agree the criticism against him for that is mostly nonsense.

But why would they support him specifically in a primary? That's the whole point of a primary.

He has also received a lot of endorsements from DNC officials and members.

When Bernie gets the plurality of the DNC is going show everyone just how much they "support and defend" democracy.
