The UK, Italy, France, Netherlands, Spain and so on and on have all done the same. Calm down dramalama. This is a crisis and the response South Africa has adopted is very much in alignment with first world countries responses.

Do you know what else is a fundamental human right? The right to live. I think that takes the highest priority.

If anything South Africas early adoption of the measures, compared to others, may be the key difference that saves the clustered squatter camps.

I understand that this has substantial cognitive stress on you, based on your Libertarian views, so not judging you, but do you see any other way of controlling the spread of the virus in South Africa?

Fauci is trying to do an extraordinarily difficult job that is in peril of being dismissed at any time by the president just because the president does not like what he's saying. When and if he does get dismissed, you'll find a reason to defend his firing.

As reporters pushed the president on why he would open up businesses when the country is seeing COVID-19 deaths occur at a faster rate, Trump said that more people would die from economic and social restrictions than from allowing the virus to spread.

“You have suicides over things like this, when you have terrible economies,” the president said, adding that “the cure has been very tough.”

CNN reporter Kaitlin Collins asked Trump if any doctors on his team have agreed with him that it’s the right decision to ease social-distancing guidelines in a matter of weeks.

“If it were up to the doctors, they may say, ’Let’s keep it shut down ― let’s shut down the entire world,” he said. “You can’t do that with a country ― especially the No. 1 economy anywhere in the world, by far … you can’t do that. It causes bigger problems than the original.”

Pressed again on whether any doctors have endorsed easing the guidelines soon, Trump said they have “not endorsed” but that “I think they’re OK with it, and I’m OK with it.”

I have simply found that the cynical approach to Trump is usually the one that pays dividends.


In other regards I am not a negative person at all.

The work would include delivering food to homebound senior citizens. The TLC warns that, initially, the need for drivers will be small, but it could increase as more residents request meal delivery services. The agency is offering a $15-an-hour wage, plus reimbursements for gas mileage and tolls. Drivers will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.
