Hi

I bought my iPad and opened my US itunes account when I did a gap year there. Now some new litigations i cannot update any of my apps anymore. I see now in the T&C it states that "You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Store from outside of the available territory. Apple may use technologies to verify such compliance."

Any suggestions...

I think OP is saying that the iPad was installed with a US iTunes account and he is now using a different non US or changed the country on the US account.

Why not just keep the same account as US?

Although i'm not entirely sure what you mean "can't update my apps anymore" . Can't you log in? Is your account locked/suspended? I'm not aware of Apple actually detecting your location and locking your account based on that, they DO however disallow your credit card if it's not a USA card. So like the rest of us, you have to buy vouchers online from some dodgy reseller who emails you the codes to buy things on the store.

Anyway, you will have to use the account you downloaded the apps on AND change/keep your country to USA. If you are using another account, you can't update those apps, you will need to repurchase and redownload them on the new account.

That is the standard Terms and conditions. Everyone here who's downloading Games and Music on their Apple devices are using USA accounts. And yes it's against Apple's terms and conditions, so they -can- kill our accounts if they ever decide to request proof of residence. So it's a risk, but without it , you will have a very limited device in terms of applications available to you.... catch 22. (you won't even be able to get Angry Birds with a South African account, how absurd is that?).

So ultimately, if you want access to all the cool stuff Apple fanboys are constantly talking about ("gigantic app store", "itunes music, movies,tv" ) then you have to break Apple's terms and conditions period.

Alternately you can get an android device and have a lot more access "legally" and choose your own services for music/movies that may be legal in South Africa. Apple locks alot of these things down so you either use -their- services (which they block in SA) or you have to break some sort of condition from Apple.
