Am in no way suggesting that successful equates to good. The Fast and Furious franchise is proof enough of that. But sh*tty movies being successful isn't anything new (i really don't know if this qualifies as a sh*tty, will wait till I actually see it before I decide).
People said that this will be a bad movie, which it is for various reasons, not that it will tank in the box-office.

The Little Mermaid doing well is kind of amusing considering how many people were ranting that a black mermaid somehow violates the spirit of the source material.. Hopefully all those anti-woke commentators won't be too gutted that it didn't tank at the box office.
Again no one expected a Disney movie to do badly at the cinemas on an opening weekend, especially a holiday weekend, parents just aren't picky enough with what they keep their children busy with.

As for the "anti-woke" crowd they were proved correct in the bad reviews of the movie. Having tokenised characters just doesn't translate into good movies or series.
Rings of power is another great example of people being proved correct despite the numerous articles trying to gaslight people.

Sure.... All the "go woke go broke" comments were commenting about the quality of the movie only, not it's financial performance at all.

But I guess "go woke, be fairly successfull" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Perhaps if you had actually listened to some of these "anti-woke" commentators regarding entertainment you'd know better :P

Sadly you can't measure non views

If you paid no taxes it simply means you made no profit and there could be various reasons for this.
You very obviously do not know what you are talking about.
I dumbed it down since this is a politics thread not an in depth economics thread.
As you said I don't feel the need to waste more effort when the basics are not understood.

Only in your vocabulary does "I dumbed it down" mean "I made patently false claims".

Nah you just lack the basic understanding of the subject, but you do you
I love how you paint "patently false claims" from factual statements. The cult of today

At least 55 of the largest corporations in America paid no federal corporate income taxes in their most recent fiscal year despite enjoying substantial pretax profits in the United States. This continues a decades-long trend of corporate tax avoidance by the biggest U.S. corporations, and it appears to be the product of long-standing tax breaks preserved or expanded by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) as well as the CARES Act tax breaks enacted in the spring of 2020.

The tax-avoiding companies represent various industries and collectively enjoyed almost $40.5 billion in U.S. pretax income in 2020, according to their annual financial reports. The statutory federal tax rate for corporate profits is 21 percent. The 55 corporations would have paid a collective total of $8.5 billion for the year had they paid that rate on their 2020 income. Instead, they received $3.5 billion in tax rebates.

Their total corporate tax breaks for 2020, including $8.5 billion in tax avoidance and $3.5 billion in rebates, comes to $12 billion.

Perfect and just like in politics you're far to the left of me on that plot. Well done!
(PS : ask me if I need to explain this to you)

Posting stats without understanding. You're doing great!

Since we're on the topic of cutting the budget of wasteful spending here's on many might agree with considering the government spends over $20B each year on animal testing, most of that is obscure and doesn't result in any real benefit.
But kudo's to organizations like WhiteCoatWaste that exposes this waste through their various FOIA requests.

Examples include Faucc's beagle experiments which were repeated multiple times over the years and even outsourced.

Or take this one for example.

Seems like researchers saw this old joke and thought that sounds like a plan!

Ok and using your opening weekend chart, do you consider Crystal Skull a good movie or the worst Indiana Jones movie (Soon to be replaced by Dial of Destiny)?
It just proves my point those numbers mean very little in terms of quality.
Money is all that matters. If it makes a profit it was a successful movie. Disney is not trying to create masterpieces. Saying this is not going to be a clasic masterpiece is a bad argument.

Quality doesn't matter if people are stupid enough to pay for shít.
