US to probe hacker threat

The Pentagon said Tuesday it had requested an investigation into a hack group's reported threat against a military base that is being used to hold a US soldier suspected of giving documents to WikiLeaks.
 
Seems pretty harsh treatment for the guy, then again US aren't known for being nice either ;)
 
He's in prison for fear of releasing information which should be transparent/public anyway? How the heck does that work? The U.S. is a democracy, they don't vote people into power so those people can hide information from them, the people in power are supposed to serve the nation, not use them. Same apples for SA
