Has Neotel addressed this yet?

I'm thinking of switching to Neotel, and friend of mine tells me that he is being over billed or that he can't track his usage.

doesn't look like we going to get a usage tracker...been waiting months for one and false promises, as per usual by neotel.

A windows service that saves data to a mysql / sqlite db with usage going through the router.

Thing is I have 5 devices connecting to the flex router :)

I'm by no means a programmer so anyone can shoot me down but can we not some how program something into the flex menu which shows the amount of bytes going through it? just wondering.

What I have done is create a Smoothwall firewall in a vmware session on my downlaod machine ( which is always on ) and humms away quietly in a spare room. The firewall maintains a traffic usage log. I am still working on creating a seperate firewall where the netflex device is used in a pure modem state. STill need to finish a few things on that setup before I move onto it full time. One is the traffic usage tracker.

My simple solution was to setup the router as a modem and to count the data via DuMeter (set only to count dialup adaptors).

So this method accurately counts only internet traffic and not ethernet overheads.

You then setup that machine as 192.168.0.1 and share its internet connection to the rest of the PCs on your network.

I think there is also a free version called NetMeter.

A friend of mine signed up Neotel and boy is it a nightmare to get usage amounts! The last time they phoned, they couldn't say how much. Now for someone who isit that clued up with installing application in order to view usage, what does Neo reckon they do...Eat their money without them knowing hmmmmmm sounds like isp's i know

I am looking into something like this. Just want to buy a space flex router!

So anyone wanting to sell theirs can contact me

This is exactly how I am doing it. I have my Media PC and flatmate's PC hooked up via wireless NetGear router connected to my PC which is connected to the NeoTel modem via USB.

I used to be a bigt NetMeter fan, as I prefered the look of it over DU Meter... but DU Meter works on XP/Vista/Win 7 where as NetMeter does not. Also, DU Meter's logging is AWESOME and so are some of it's other features.

I have been really able to fire a lot of ammunition at NeoTel thanks to DU Meter. It gives me accurate internet usage and stats, in real time.

The problem with hooking it up to a pc for me is that I only get wicked reception in my roof :) hehe

If you are using linux "vnstat" is pretty useful little program. :)

Thanks, interesting, but dumeter doesn't monitor xbox or other ethernet devices, does it?

If the xBox or other devices are connected THROUGH your PC, then it will. If they are all (xBox, other devices and your PC) connected to a central router, then no.

Since the NeoConnect Prime service only comes with one handset that connects to a PC via a USB cable, ALL internet traffic in my house is routed through my PC (I have turned off the DHCP service in my NetGear wireless router, and my ICS now hands out IP addresses to all networked devices), so DUmeter can track all my usage.

I have been able to extract the data for the above spreadsheets from the standard reports generated from DUmeter.
